MikeMK: your CPU is powerful enough to give you 15K+ PPD. SMP2 installation may look troublesome but once you get it running, it is very easy to maintain (my experience at least). I would recommend that you use -smp 10 which will leave you with 2 threads free. -smp 11 may cause EUEs or problems but in theory, -smp 12 should be more stable than -smp 11. The safest option is -smp 10 as it is almost guaranteed to work. You may want to consider GPU2 folding but the points are not that high when compared to Nvidia. If you do choose to use GPU, you might want to consider using Environment Variables to have a better efficiency.

JeeBus: I am guess that you are new to folding so I wanted to tell you NOT to use the viewer to monitor the performance of F@H. The reason is that it will be using up most of the resources which will reduce the WU (Work Unit) processing. Also the viewer is buggy and may cause system crashes, random errors, etc.

To monitor the F@H Client, you have to use third party applications like FahMon or HFM.NET. Do note that FahMon haven't been updated in some time so it doesn't support new features. FahMon is for use if you are using the Classic Client and GPU2 Client. If you are using SMP2 Client or GPU3 BETA Client, the it is recommended to use HFM.NET as it is actively being developed and supports new features like Bonus Point calculations and identifies the GPU3 Cores and Projects correctly.

I think the introduction of Sigs for folding is great, it's tempting me to sign up

I do also think it would be good to give some users like a pre made Guru3D sigs, for example: Ancient Gurus, ROTM winners, high 3D mark scorers, or those who make a outstanding contribution to the forums? I think it would be cool and be a good representation of a user, but it does take time up I guess and some users may some of the ideas a bit unfair, oh well, just a thought.
