Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity6 - gaming on six monitors.
We test the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity6 edition card in CrossfireX actually combined with six .. yes SIX monitors. We'll build a nice frame that can...

It's a thing of beauty, there's no doubt about it.
We just need smaller bezels. I just can't do it with them the size they are currently. I know, I've experienced it, and you don't see it when you're gaming...But I'm 100% sure there are times when something is ruined by it.
If I can get less than 1/2 an inch between screens, I'd probably jump on it.
EDIT: Oh man, I loved Anno on it. That's awesome.

Don't want to ask a dumb question which may have been covered, but is it possiblle to run 9 screens or 3x3 landscape with eyefinity? If it is, man, Id so contemplate being an even poorer college student, moreso then I am now, to get a setup like that.

The 5870 only has 6 display controllers on the chip, so even if they had 9 mini display ports you couldn't do a 3x3 setup.

For a shooter that makes no sense with all the dead areas. Cool idea but not very easy to use.

I'm fairly certain it would be possible to run that 3x3 setup if you had two cards. Though they couldn't be crossfired and I don't believe games would work.
Someone back me up on that.

awesome review! was waiting for this since the release of the 5xxx series...VERY disappointed to see that the bezels are a HUGE factor in this...esp for gaming. After watching the vids..I WILL NOT be going into the Eyefinity 6...HOWEVER I will be going Eyefinity 3 later this year Although with the 120hz moniters...im not quite sure if i should go with those..or not.I guess price will determine that...and dont they have minimal bezel moniters yet? or NO bezel moniters?

6 Monitors with the bezels in the middle is certainly a no go. I'd really like to see the 3x1 portrait mode in action, that might be the sweet point. Nice 3600x1920 on large screens, with the middle unblocked. Or even 4800x2560 with really large screens, though those still cost a fortune.

they really need to create the one monitor to rule them all.
one with 6 inputs, and NO frame around the inner sides.

How about one projector shooting at each surface of a room. It would be like a complete surround experience. Even better at 120hz and 3d glasses...Maybe with 4 5870's and a 12 core...I'd love to see this next generation boldly tested as no one has tested before!

Unfortunately all projectors aren't made equal and each one would require tuning individually. When some bulbs break prematurely and you replace them then one projector is going to be brighter than the others in your configuration. It simply wouldn't be good if you're going for a seamless effect. A good idea, but some of us have already tried it .

Thanks for the review. It looks outstanding.
Hilbert, could you please tell:
1. If it's possible to set bezel correction in the way, so whole displayed image is moved, and crosshair is displayed only one one monitor?
2. Are temperatures better with this modified exhaust?

It's a cool technology.
I think I would rather go for 3*1 or 5*1. I think that the bezels of an even number of monitors are too distracting in the center.
Thanks for the review. Cool.
