Default ATT 5850 voltage control - 03-27-2010, 00:52 | posts: 64

is ATT capable of creating and using custom voltages with 5850/70? every time i try to use a custom voltage, the card immediately defaults back to base clocks.

if ATT can't do this, is there any plans on adding this feature in the future?

No plans to add any custom voltages yet.

i would really appreciate it if ATT be given that functionality. right now i'm using ATT to handle my 5850's 2D/3D clock switching and game profiling, to avoid the GSoD and flickering that plagues it when running two monitors. to get a good overclock, i need to give it more voltage. right now i need to use MSI afterburner to achieve that, which means that my card has to be run at an overclocked state at all times.

sorry about the double post.

if i modify the BIOS on my 5850 to include 1.15v in the allowable voltages list, would ATT detect it and allow me to use it?

It may detect , but its up to driver to apply it.

it would be fantastic to have the possibility to set custom voltages like Afterburner do.

I'm a great fan of ATT, but i have to use Afterburner too (or instead of) just for this function.

(i have the MSI 5770 Hawk at the moment, and voltage modification is locked in the BIOS when i tried RBE 1.25)

Well i have been reading alot about this but it seems that the ATI 5XXX series are being held back by ati/amd itself.
So even though many of us want to try faster clocks and higher voltages the hardware manufactors are the culpritts for not allowing us todo so.
Only the special cards which are already overclocked by the hardware vendor seem to be able todo more.
Untill now the highest clock i got my card on was 920 Mhz but i forgot to check if it really was running that speed, if i put the clock at 921 the whole card jumped back to 850/1200
Even though afterburner reports it does allow you to change the voltage i wonder if it really does do that since in most cases actually nothing happens for real.
I set my card to 1.25 volts but it reality nothing was changed when put to the test.

hmmm that's irritating... I have a 5850 OC version (duel fans)
sorry for the old thread bump, but any suggestion on a good tool to use to up the GPU voltage while still using ATT for clocks?
