    Hey guys-

I just recently rebuilt my pc. well, everything but the gfx card. I'm wondering which card would give me the best bang for my buck. I'm looking to keep it under $200, usually prefer nvidia over ati but can always be swayed by a good argument. I'm currently using a 7900gtx, so pretty much anything is going to be better.

    Here's my current set up...

    mobo - ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
    cpu - Phenom II X4 955 BE @ stock speed (haven't oc'ed yet)
    ram - G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1600
    psu - PC Power & Cooling 750W

thanks in advance for the info!

$200 will get u an ATI 5770 and change, I'd wait for Fermi though, should only be a couple of weeks now till release

well, for about $165 you can get the ATI 5770, or for about $230/240, you can get the 5830. I think those are the two best options right now.

I've got a similar setup to yours, and I went with a 5850... great card, really happy with it, but it was a fair bit more than $200. I used to be all about nvidia as well, but right now at least until nvidia releases new cards ATI is the way to go.

I would get the cheapest 5850 you can find. more than 200 but worth it IMHO

Not really. The 5770 is a great card but I think will age quickly. The 5830 is not a good recommendation until the price drops to ~$200. It just doesn't perform at the level of its pricetag. The BEST $200 card and below is still the HD 4890. It squashes 5770 and is on par or beats 5830 most if not all the time. Not to mention when overclocked is faster than a GTX 285.

    For over $200 cards, this.^
