Whats going on at IW, publicity stunt, behind the scenes fighting, greed, fraud........the plot thickens.

Quote:
Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward is now home to a very strange, currently very unclear story, as G4 reports that security guards have stormed the developer, with studio heads currently missing in action.

While that all sounds like scary stuff, there's very little in the way of actual detail here. Infinity Ward leads Vince Zampella and Jason West are reported to have met with Activision earlier today, but have not been seen since by G4's sources. The original report describes a rumored level of tension between Infinity Ward and its owner/publisher, but does not explain the source of that friction.

Look, we don't know what's up yet, but we've reached out to Activision PR and Infinity Ward's main communicator Robert Bowling for comment on G4's report. The latter has been uncharacteristically quiet on his Twitter account today, if that means anything.

We're well aware by now that Activision isn't shy about bringing the hammer down on its owned development studios, with Infinity Ward's Call of Duty games still bringing in the billions, we can't imagine why Bobby Kotick and company would be so displeased with its star studio. Put your rumor protective gear on until we hear more.

Update: And now things are stranger.

West's LinkedIn profile indicates he is no longer working at Infinity Ward as of March 2010. Could Infinity Ward's top brass been given the heave ho?

I bet all the people who bought Modern Warfare 2 are really young and barely read this side of the internet. A bunch of kids are not going to have a bit of concern about the technical advantages of a dedicated server.

Also, some of my friends bought it but didnt' really bother to read what happened. Igorance is bliss, for some, I guess.

tbh mw2 as much as i liked to play it, was horrible piece of crap and money wasted.

CoD 4 MW was like 10000x better and BC 2 is like 10000000x better then MW2

It's not ignorance if you don't know or don't care that the game has dedicated servers or not.

Did you even read that to yourself? Look up ignorance and come back again.
In an exceptional case, a child would not be expected to know. Ignorance wouldn't be the most appropriate terminology.

If you say someone doesn't care, you might want to check why they don't care. Did they choose to ignore the circumstances? Ignorance. Did they not have a preference over either direction? Not ignorance.

Now, with all the definition BS aside,
Dedicated servers shouldn't even be an issue. Almost every major multiplayer game since the dawn of PC gaming has had dedicated servers. Even Serious Sam HD was patched with a dedicated server in 2 weeks. And that game costs 7 dollars in the Steam bargain bin. This game costs 60. The fact that its $10 more than every other game, it should have unicorns ****ing rainbows. You dig through that logic. Not to mention that dedicated servers have superior ping times and consistency. It's not like they removed a feature that doesn't make a difference.

Well we now know what happened, Activision fired them both because they had info that both were intent on going over to EA(although there is speculation that Activation are using this as a cover just to fire both and withhold any payments to them for MW2), which they did and which is quite a sizable sum, and Activision now have another studio developing MW3.........now the lawyers for both sides are ready for a battle...its going to be quite drawn out.

From what I heard, while Activision hold the "Call of Duty" license, Infinity Ward own the "Modern Warfare" license. This will be interesting to see, if Infinity Ward can keep the MW title. Tbh I havnt even bought MW2 and im glad I didnt. Im having more fun playing Darksiders and FF13.
