since 1-2 weeks. iam having bad pings..finally my ISP told me that:

"Mr, u should be using 4Mbps instead 8 because your home is far to main servers(or what ever in english)"

i didnt believe them but this became more sht and i made what they told me...

and as i see my ping is very nice again..

So what should be the reason of this? slower internet but better pings..hu?

    u can check details here

What are you on ADSLx, FTTC (i.e. 'cable') or FTTH and so on ?

If its ADSL then because interleaving depth is often decreased at lower sync rates as there is less chance of errors. Lower interleaving depth means lower pings.

yes! but if the Network cant handle it you will be in for a treat. we had this crap for a few years before they finally fixed things. they didnt expect so many people wanted this.

Higher speeds will mean higher frequency, and that means more room for error. And if there's error there's re-transmitting.

That's what ADSL1 sometimes had better pings than ADSL2, even though you're connecting faster.

As everyone else has already said, higher speeds on the line mean a lot of errors if you are too far from the DSL office to handle it. I work tech support for major US DSL companies and we have to lower the speed on the lines all the time to solve disconnect and packet loss issues. It's simply a limitation with the technology, can't complain if you live 4+ miles from the nearest DSLAM.
