Can anyone recommend me a good and reliable wireless N adapter for my PC? I recently purchased Netgear's WNDA3100v2 which is pathetic. The connection keeps dropping out every few minutes even when the router is only about 10 feet away.

I recently set up a netgear n-300 wireless router for a client.

They are using a laptop about 25ft from router.

The signal is rock solid.

Now, N band can be 2.4 or 5 gig in frequency.

If it is 2.4 it WILL be effected by :
1) microwave oven usage, yours of a neighbors
2) if there are mirrors/polish metal items in the room (they cause reflections)

Just for the point, what is your signal strength when it works?

This may be a stupid question, but...

If it is only 10 feet from router, why not hardwire it.(run a cable from router to pc/laptop/xbox/ps3
It will be faster, more secure and won't be effected by outside influences.

When it works, the signal is between 80-89%. The reason why it's not wired because the computer is in a room and the router is out in the living room and I didn't want to dangle around with wires.

On another computer which has a linksys G adapter, I tried it on the computer using the Netgear adapter and the connection never drops. The router I'm using is Netgear RangeMax™ Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR3500).

Funny how the linksys adapter works so much better than Netgear adapter of the same brand of the router...
