Edit:
There are problems with maya 2009 sp1 and the modded atiogl.xml file.

It appears that maya hangs (it does not crash, it justs sits there doing nothing, whenever I press the play button to start an animation with a skeleton on a fairly simple low-poly model).

With the original atiogl.xml in place, it works ok (but the performance is fairly poor). Maybe this is not the case with maya 2010? Can anyone (shocko??) check a simple scene with a bound skeleton?

maya 2010 should behave the same as 2009 does. so the problem should be on both versions.

havenŽt had much time improve the atiogl.xml settings recently, but today i tried some different approaches to the opengl settings for maya.

for now it seems promising. concerning your rigging problems, it would be great if you could provide a scene with a simple skeleton or a rigged character that has exactly the problem you are talking about.

i could then use that for my testing.

I find I actually get better performance and I don't have the timeline black box instead of a grey dithered one graphics hiccup using the original atiogl.xml file instead of the modified one.

here is an update for the new driver 8.72 :
for now there will only be an update for win7 x64 since this is the only OS i have on my laptop now. in 2 or 3 weeks iŽll update the other scripts.

for win7 x64 Driver version 8.72

please test first if opengl acceleration is available, if not you might be required to make some minor modifications to these files : C7_98297.msi,atiicdxx.dat.

Thank you very much schoko, very fast response! I'll try this later with my Mobility HD4670 since I have no HD5xxx card.. Hope someone can test the new gen..

edit:

Code:
Dst2_1 = BA 2E 00 00 00 48 8B CB E8 36 BA FF FF C7 03 81 95 00 00 90 90
I think this has to be Dst2_0..??

Also the driver version is 8.702 not 8.72

my bad...

yeah, youŽre right about that. i thought i should delete all the other options, since it is quite a fuss with all the different options. you guys have to enter your cards device id anyway, so there is no need for any more than one variable. so when deleting all the other dst_varŽs i forgot to modify the one i used from Dst2_1 to Dst2_0

no, the driverversion is 8.72. itŽs been released yesterday, or the day before that. use the script on that one.
since you guys posted the news of a new driver for v8800 i took a look at atiŽs homepage and found the new driver. itŽs now in the official download section.

Cool so its even a newer version, if you use the driver search on the german page you only get 8.702

Removing the other dst_var's is a good idea indeed, makes it easier for people..

Thanks again, I'll try it now..

ist mir ja fast ein bissl peinlich... hab nicht bemerkt dass ich den fehler beim zusammenkürzen des scriptes erzeugt hab... vier augen sind doch besser als zwei.

thanks for your feedback cadcat. if you hadnŽt noticed there would probably a lot of people testing a nonworking script.

now iŽm curious on the first results of the 5xxx series...

Schoko made a patchscript Here for the driver but it's only for win seven x64 right now and I don't think it's fully working. Some other files may need to be patched as well. I'm sure Schoko will get it working in time.

I think he said the 8.723 is the same as 8.720 only with a few cards added so you could try the patch script available.. But I'm not sure

still have to work quite a lot in these days....

i have made a quick update for xp64. this should work for 2xxx-4xxx series of atiŽs cards. concerning the 5xxx series, i did not have much time to have a closer look for now, so no update here.

Thanks for your work schoko!

It's not working or I did something wrong. I have a 2900xt so I changed "81 95" to "00 94" and 940A to 9400 in the .ini file. I ran driver cleaner before installing the new drivers.

Specview maya02

old 8.633 drivers = ~265
new 8.723 drivers = ~40

Edit: Okay I did mess up changing the PS I should have changed 81 95" to "0A 94" (the fireGL's ID not the Radeon's) But it still not working...

Giving that script a try now too.

Quick question

Can I have serveral drivers in the ATI section for example 6.32 and 7.2 and just point the device driver to the inf files where they have been patched? what I mean is can I freely tell the device driver use this one, use that one without uninstalling the existing ati drivers?

reason I am asking this is would like to be able to test scripts on the fly without having to worry about un-installing and re-installing each time drivers and such? I understand rebooting is needed, but just wondering can I have a library of modded drivers that can test easily.

also the days of doing make cab to atimag.sys / atikdag.sys are over right? Its not in the walkthrough by S. just rename the patched sys to sy_ now RT does what make cab did before? I assume make cab just compressed it?

thanks@!

UPDATE - SW01 test dropped from 66fps to 21fps , using that script for 7.23 drivers, even though realview worked, and it it showed v8650 in display adaptors.

Default Realview works because.. - 06-04-2010, 15:47 | posts: 171 | Location: Turkey

I have sold a number of workstations to some customers using Solidworks.

I learned that "Realview is activated by hardcoded VGA card information" a simple check for information. Therefore when it sees a Quadro or FireGL/FirePrp installed, it is activated - if it does not see it, it is not activated.

Regards.

Applied the 8.72 patch to 8.723 drivers in vista 64, did everything as explained here (thank you!) and, success: I have a V8700 now instead of the old HD 4870. Only there is no more video in Firefox and IE with Flashplayer, sound running but the screen just green. Got any clue?

Yes I can confirm this, same with my Mobility HD4670 and 8.720.0.0 driver on Win7 x64..

So no YouTube at work, not a big problem

Edit:

Found a working video!

Really stuck here- I'm using this patch script as per all documented instructions, and I receive an error on running the script from Rivatuner that the script isn't certified to be used with the driver- I run the patch anyway, no errors are thrown in the log, but it states that it is using the common script. Then, after install (removing the catalyst drivers with both the uninstall and a driver cleaner in safe mode) applications can't find the openGL driver- modo 401, lightwave, AfterEffects cs5, they all crash.

Details: Windows 7 x64, Radeon HD4850 512mb forced to V8700 in the patch script. Card is unlocked in CCC with a mild overclock.

CCC sees the card as the v8700, btw- I'm testing using the boot option to disable driver signing enforcement for now before loading the tool to bypass enforcement. I've tried 3 times (verifying carefully each step) that I'm doing exactly what I should be doing, to no avail. Used both the driver from the amd site (8.634) and the backup site as per the other post on performing a soft mod.
