Default BURNED by MSi - 12-02-2009, 20:36 | posts: 5

I have not posted here before, but I have used RivaTuner for years and consistently refer to this forum and site for information. It has been a great resource to me. Unfortunately I was swayed to purchase an MSI R5870-PM2D1G Video Card because of the Co-organized Guru3d/MSi Afterburner Software. I have built PCs for my business and personal use for almost 20 years (Ya, I'm a 43 year old gamer ). I thought I was lucky to find the card in stock at Newegg but it was DOA when I received it. I would have sent it back to Newegg but surprisingly they were out of stock. So I decided to RMA through MSi. MSi denied my RMA sending me a blurry picture of my card with a sticker of an arrow pointing to what they said were damaged micro chips. As previously stated this was not my first build. And I did not use a screw driver to pry the card into the slot, I used vice grips!

I was shocked by the total lack of Customer Service that I received from MSi. They ignored my attempts to communicate with them via the email and phone messages that I had left throughout the RMA process. When I first received the RMA refusal email I realized that I was going to have problems communicating with them as I noticed statements like "We have found a physical damage" and "There are some micro chips that is missing" etc. I received better Customer Service with DFI in the middle of all their problems years ago. I'm hoping that Guru3D staff will not remove this post so that some of you who may read it will think twice before buying an MSi card.

Default MSi USA - 12-02-2009, 21:21 | posts: 5

It went through the MSi RMA department in California. USA

The reason I posted in this section is that one of the major reasons I purchased the MSi card was due to the Afterburner Software.

Bad Decision!

Newegg's RMA is pretty good. Just hit them up even if you have to wait for it. Better than nothing I guess. That sucks about the denied RMA though. RMA in general sucks to do the first place, this is just a horrible icing on top of it.

lower end?

The twin frozer series and their p55 boards (as well as the 790FX-GD70) would like a word with you.

Hardly doubt 20 years. If you had done even a tiny bit of research you would see that you don't need an MSI brand card for Afterburner to work.

I don't see why "almost 20 years" is a stretch for you? It's actually over 20 years as my first build was an Intel 486 based DOS system.

And as far as buying MSi over another brand is concerned, my decision was based on them being involved in the design of the software.

lots of people hating on Computaholic. I know what you mean about poor customer service, I've been there and done that. Not a road I'd like to go down again. I'll stick to Gigabyte, BFG, Asus, Corsair, and Silverstone.

And yes, in my opinion MSi does make lower end stuff.. trying to save some money?? GO WITH MSI!! pfft. hate em.

Thanks for trying to rectify this situation. But unfortunately there was no response to any of my messages asking them to reconsider their refusal of the RMA or about filing a Dispute.

Oh Ya... the reply I received was they were sending the DOA card back to me. (Dear valued customer... that's a good one)

Dear valued customer (randy@xxx.com),
