sine voodoo5500 and gts2 cards released there has been a comparison going on between the two cards ....i was a real idiot to buy the voodoo5500 for 320us $..... at that time the prices were same for the two cards ..but unfortunately i bought voodoo........it was a bad decision ..now without any comment i believe that NVIDIA is the leader in the 3d market...and will be for sometime coz 3dfx is out(forever)....but maybe something like KYRO3 will comeup and take over from geforce3...which is likely to be at the end of this year...but even then i believe if sombody have enough money then without any question get a NVIDIA card its worth it....
i believe that by enabling voodoo FSSA one cant play a game with a decent frame rate be honest .....i have it too with athlon 900mhz and 384mb ram 30 gb hd .for me FSSA is not that important because its hardly noticeable in games like q3 serious sam UT etc..where frame rate is more important...
glide is out too ....32 bit colour is the oder of the day...i dont want to play a game in 16 bit colour ...coz there is a hell of defference in 16 and 32 bit colours....i have been using 3dfx for 2 years now...BUT...........errrr
I DONT WANT TO SAY THIS BUT I HAVE TO....GEFORCE CARDS R MUCH BETTER IN EVERYWAY COMPARED TO 3DFX CARDS...

yeah.. GTS is better.... If nVIDIA didn't buy 3dfx maybe 3dfx would blow out nVIDIA with their RAMPAGE chip (prototype though)...
Maybe Rampage would blow them out? Probably not even a question. Too bad itll never happen.....
By the way, I own a V5 and I am happy with it. I constantly hear people bashing FSAA when in fact it's perfectly usable for many games old and "semi-new". I run UT and Q3A at 1024x768 with FSAA x2 on and get decent, very playable frame rates with virtually no slowdown (not to mention it does clean up those jagged edges nicely). Its also easily usable at 4x sampling for older games like Q, Q2, Hexen2 etc. The Geforce2 GTS is faster yes, but most certainly not better in every way (eg. visual quality, compatibility). Read the many other discussions in the 3dfx forum to see some points arguing both sides.
WELL i think jaggies in games like q2,q3 and serious sam(AMAZING)doesnt mean much.....decent frame rates r more important ...otherwise things will slow down ....and there is no fun left ...and talking about the visual quality.....voodoo was a good choice when there was no GTS but from now on NVIDIA cards r doing GR8...see the screenshots of GTS and V5...there is a lot of difference GTS has cleraly a lot of eye cany to offer...and dont even think about the visual quality of GEFORCE3...its MILES ahead of V5.....
COMPATIBILITY ...i think in the near future where 3dfx dont seen to have any assistance ...it will be have some serious problems on the other hand NVIDIA have a direct connection with microsoft directX...which will guide then to some real goodies.......bye

I bought a voodoo 5 AGP for $99.00 canadian for my 2nd PC. Frame rates are slower but 3DFx did a nice job with inage quality. It was not a bad deal even though drivers and support will be gone. Unreal was the first 3d game I played on my voodoo2 and that was worth every penny.

I don't know why everyone says Q3 is "new". This title is nowhere near new. New is a month, a month and two weeks old-max. Quake 3 is not a good benchmark to say some item is up to date in my opinion. And MDK2 is the same story.
