So do we, in the UK virgin media has got a 50mb package. I am currently on the 20mb package as the 50mb one has not become available in my area just yet. But they have like 50% of the UK covered now for 50mb internet. By Q1 '10 they are planning on upgrading everyone who is on 4mb > 10mb, 10mb > 20mb, and 20mb > 50mb, for no extra cost.
It is the same as what has been happening with them for the past 4 years. First I was on 1mb then got a free upgrade to 4mb. Then I got an upgrade to 10mb and now about 6 months ago I got upto 20mb. Plus if you ask on the phone you can pay a little more to opt out of any bandwidth capping during peak times. I think it is like an extra £5 on top of the offer they give you.

He doesn't exactly sound like he is taking it serious though?
By the comments, it looks like he is helping sell the game, hmmmm i say...
Virgin Media's upload is only 1.5mb though, 10/10 would of been much better than 50/1.5 for gaming, but UK has always been piss poor for upload speeds.

They aren't actually planning on giving free bandwidth increases, that was just a rumour unfortunately. Shame because i've had the same. I started out on 512Kbps and got upgraded all the way up to 10Mb myself.
4MB customers will be upgraded to 10Mb, but they'll have an extremely capped service for a cheaper price, where as regular 10Mb customers will still have what they do now.

I am on 20mb connection upgraded from 10mb 6 months ago. According to Virgin themselves the upgrade is still going ahead. I only spoke to them a few weeks ago due to my modem packing up and needing a replacement. Also I actually pay £25 a month just for the net and £5 ontop of that to make it up to £30 so they will not cap my bandwidth during peak times.
PS/ he is getting better lol

You mean Virgin Media Passion Fruit?
Im still on 20mb, purely as i've filled 2TB as it is, don't need an excuse to buy more storage, but VM still has pittiful upload speeds, the 20mb is about 800k.
No idea if that Swedish guy on the stream has 24/24 or just a 24mb download speed.

Yeah that is true about the upload speeds they do suck. Do you know any UK based ISP that actually does 10/10 or 20/20?
PS/ I am liking the depth of field in this game the distance looks quite detailed even more than what is in front of you lol

The last time they upgraded their customers for free was when they had three tiers, now theres four with the introduction of 50Mb. They're not going to upgrade 20Mb customers to 50Mb and eliminate a tier thats giving them money, they'd have to give existing 50Mb customers a discount or charge existing 20Mb customers more, it just wouldn't work. I'm also a regular over at cableforum.co.uk and up to now theres no talk of a shift of customers onto a higher speed. I wouldn't pay any attention to the wombles behind the Virgin phones, the majority of them haven't got a clue what they're on about, believe me.

my country still highest speed is 6mb and 512k upload. on top of it u also get a 40gb download limit monthly and a charge nice extra charge for evey aditional gb downloaded after the 40gb limit. if that isnt enought , a 4mb connection is $58 dollars. but only if you buy as part of cable tv package so then u pay total of $82 dollars for 4mb and the most basic channels of cable. another service DSL is 5mb down and 512kb up with some phone features for $108. so feel good u who have 10mb for so cheap.
