Default scaling is not right in windows 7 64 bit, chopped off edges - 11-06-2009, 10:10 | posts: 3 | User is Offline

hi all

i installed windows 7 64 bit yesterday, i used to have vista 32 bit, scaling was ok with vista

since i installed windows 7 64 bit i cant get the scaling right, i have tried all different catalysts, ranging from 8.6 to the latest to see if i can switch on the option for scaling, but nothing is working

so you have an idea of what everything looks like for me here is a picture i took with fraps, for some reason when i took the picture the edges are not chopped off, strange, well here is the picturehttp://tinypic.com/r/14aetz/4 i have drawn on it using paint, the outside of the black line is what is chopped off, the resolution of what you see in the picture is 1920 x 1080, i have tried all different desktop resolutions to see what happens, even when i have a 1920 x 1080 desktop resolution that dont help, at the moment i have a 1280 x 768 resolution, i have tried some other resolutions too, but nothing helps at the moment

i had this happen with vista once but i fixed it eventually by messing around with scaling options and other little options like that, but this time i cant do that because it dont work

i am willing to send you a little donation if you can help me because i want this fixed but i dont know how to fix it

i have teamviewer if anyone else has it and wants to help me that way

or we can just do everything here, i dont mind i just want to fix this so i can be happy

thank you

by the way the application you see is xbmc, this can also happen with games too

not sure if it's been scaled by tinypic, but the resolution of that picture is 1600x900
if you set a lower resolution, the image scaling options should be available in CCC *shrug*
i set 1920x1200 and can use the scaling options:

what monitor or tv do you have?

not using any hdtv mode and dont have any stretch or shrink options, by the way i cant select any overscan options too in ccc, they are faded out

i think it could be something to do with hz, earlier this morning i was messing around with loads of different things like setting resolution and hz in ccc and windows, and setting resolutions in xbmc

sometimes, aint doing it at the moment, but sometimes when i was selecting 1920 x 1080 as my desktop resolution it was not letting me select 60hz, i could click it but when i clicked apply it would move the selection on the drop down box to 59 hz

and i think i remember from vista 32 bit that if i had 1920 x 1080 59hz i used to get this messed up scaling unless i had 60 hz

now i am confused and dont know what to think or do
