Wow, never played any of the Steam games but for £3.50, i guess i will soon enough.

5.5gb, not too bad, should get a quick game tonight.

Cheers for letting us know Aura89, i rarely check Steam for new stuff, you'd think they would email you about promo's.

Most people on this forum probably already have this game but it's a good price at $5. With mods it's excellent. Good to see an actual decent game on sale for a change.

Didn't do that, as it wasn't even listed on the website product list, but it is now the next day, can't log into my steam account atm as I have two and am logged in as the other, and my password for that is at home and I can't get it for a few weeks.

Highly, highly recommended.

Perfect timing now that L.U.R.K. mod is out!!!
http://www.moddb.com/mods/lurk/

Or if you want an alternative:
http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/2009...lete-2009.html

Two years later and this game's mod community is still EXTREMELY active; the original STALKER has aged very well, and if you have a solid gaming PC you're really in for a treat with either of the above two graphics(+gameplay) overhauls.

Wow, both those mods sound stunning.

Anyone got a personal preference?

A staggering amount of work put into them, and even though i didn't need a reminder, but things like this are why i love PC gaming.

Well said. Modding ftw to be honest.

I remember when they started on those mods - it was literally years ago, and if you take the time to read through the change/bug list you realize how staggering the changes are. These modders have altered functionality where it wasnt intended to be changed Puts the effort of some actual Dev teams to shame imo haha!

Ill be installing LURK tonight i reckon...

Yeah, think i spent more time reading the release notes for those mods than i did on Borderlands today, when people are recording live acoustic guitar tracks for mods, then you know they are serious about it.

Lurk is nearly 2gb, so the size makes me think its better, but i like the sound of the other one too.

well if something like that happens you should go into your steam folder and either rename or delete the clientregistry.blobb and restart steam, typically always fixes the problem...for almost anything

LURK is my personal favorite of the two, but I tend to mod and tweak my own config files and textures to try and merge the best that each has to offer; looks awesome.

Just an FYI:
Graphically, LURK is probably the better of the two, but be warned the nights are VERY dark. The fear factor and stealth gameplay are the focus of the mod.

Will install both these mods and see which one i prefer, game runs at around 300-400FPS indoors and about 100-200FPS outdoors at the beginning, so hopefully these keep min FPS above 60.
