Default Broken Temp Sensors on my new cpu - 10-19-2009, 10:46 | posts: 16,635 | Location: Scotland | User is Online

Right so i got a nice little E3200 and its a beast but the temps are stuck on

42/30 on realtemp, coretemp and everest idle and 42/35

I overclocked to 3.33 put it on load the temps where still 42/35

i also flashed the bios to the latest

so im guessing the sensors are broken ?

Can you post me a screenshot with latest RealTemp beta?
If you have 10 minutes to spare do a CPU Cool Down Test and post that screenshot too.
Thanks.

BTW, sensors are not broken just stuck.

It's a well known issue! My idle temps are 'stuck' at 32 and 36C, pain in the arse lad!

Yep, Core0 is stuck at 42°C. Nothing to do, just annoying, but you already know that.
The bright side is that is moving in load and you have a perfect match on both cores in load.
Enjoy your CPU and ignore that stubborn sensor.

BTW I give you latest beta 3.37 and you just ignore me. Oh well..

Maybe you can unstick it if you hit it really hard with a hammer

Perhaps a little oil? Frees up lotsa sticky things! I'm partial to this brand....

Actually, on a serious note, The Cool Down Function of that program can possibly unstick a sensor? I have Core 0 on mine stuck at 51. All others idle around 36-38.

Nope, it's only for reveal stuck sensors.
Ah, for those stuck sensors thanks to Intel because they go cheap for on-die sensors. On 45nm CPU's the only purpose of those sensors is to be precise when approaching to TJMax so they can initiate thermal throttle and/or thermal shutdown.

Well, bummer. Last I knew, once they were stuck, that's it. But as we know the speed of tech, things come along and kinda change the game somewhat. I did search around and saw a few instances of people recommending freezing a CPU for a possible stuck sensor. But that makes me a bit skeptical. Mine (core 0)will go up from it's stuck minimum during a nice Prime run or IBT session. But alas, nothing cooler. I can pretty much gage where it's at by the others. Still sucks though to see that one core where it's stuck at. LOL

Idle temps and lower temps are innacurate regardless of whether they're stuck or not.. you'll only get an accurate reading when you approach load so i wouldnt worry too much.
