Default Cant change 2nd gpu/mem/volts clock on 4870x2 with ATT - 10-19-2009, 08:10 | posts: 5

Hi,
Thanks for the software Ray

When changing gpu/mem/volts clocks on a 4870x2 only the first adapter gets changed 2nd remains the same.

Of course I have “Apply to both cores/adapters” checked off and Catalyst AI to High/Advanced
I have uninstalled all video related drivers and used driver sweeper in safe mode.
Have tried
cat 9.7 9.8 9.9 – no CCC and with CCC
ATT 169.1391 .1340 .1407
reinstalled .net updated directx
Killing ATI hotkey poller and not killing

Using XP32 sp3 gpu-z 0.3.5 to check clocks

I didn’t have any problems with my previous 4870

Can you offer any advice on whats wrong?

Thanks

Hello
What software you're talking about ???

CCC doesn't have volt modding ability.

With MSI Afterburner you should be able to change your clocks and volts no problem, as long the X2 card it's a reference design.

With Rivatuner you can set both cores clocks individually also.

also, check this.

I tried RivaTuner224MSIMOA2009Edition and had the same problem.

Only the first adapter changes clocks. When going into full screen 3d mode the first adapter will show clock changes but the second one still runs at stock 3d speeds 750/900. Same in 2d

Msi afterburner,
changes the first gpu in 3d but the second stayed at stock 3d speeds
and when swithing back to 2d MSI Afterburner didnt change either adapter as I had set in the profile 2d/3d setting.

ATT worked on this card under a test vista32 OS. So it is probably a software problem/conflict. I have very carefully done clean driver installs several times.

Well, if you are running on Windows XP SP3 ; it might be the problem (since in vista works OK, like you said) -- I really don't see why it wouldn't work in XP.... BUT .......

but there are things when overclocking these cards that simply won't work on XP like overriding bios clock limits via software, etc.

I run Vista64 and all of the programs you mention works ok for me.

BTW, there was a bug (don't remember when it was finally fixed) with drivers that would keep the 2d card at 3d speeds, no matter what. this bug was solved and re-introduced on drivers at least twice.

My advice, ,since you have reinstalled / cleaned / etc several times it's that you move to either Vista or w7, 64 bits preferably and check everything.
