Right so im looking for a psp to play PS1 games and modded homebrew/firmware in general.

I've been looking at the 2000 and 3000 but i'm not sure whats the best one to suit my needs.

for the 3000, it's pretty much the screen that was changed

Quote:
- Improved LCD screen
- new built-in microphone
- The LCD is the same size and resolution as older PSP displays, but it has a "wider color
gamut and anti-reflection technology."
- The new LCD also features five times the contrast ratio and quicker pixel-response times
than the old PSP display
- The response time has doubled in speed
- The new screen will reduce battery life by "about 20 minutes."
- The new system has the same video-out port and uses the exact same video cables as the PSP-2000, but Sony has upgraded the PSP-3000's video output to support gameplay output on interlaced displays using composite video cables.
- The PSP-3000 will be compatible with the same accessories as the PSP-2000.
i would get the 3000, i know second hand from game/gamestation it was only £10 more

only thing I know of as a downside for the 3000 is that the screen shows scanlines, but considering that the 2000 has a low response time it blurs all directions i would think the 3000 is better

comparison

im unsure if turning off the 3000 "wide" colour gamut option makes it perform like the 2000 screen

He wants to play using a CFW. So atm 3000 is out of the question, as gamestops update their firmwares and retail stores usually only have new motherboards.

I'd suggest going to gamestop, go through their used 2000's, and try to find a really old one, possibly a darth vader white psp, or god of war red one. The god of war ones are supposed to use the older hackable motherboards.

Buy a second used psp slim battery and hardmod it with directions from psp-hacks.com or just buy a pandora battery, program the memory stick with some all in ones from psp-hacks.com and hack your psp to 5.00 m33-6.

One thing when looking for a used PSP, turn them on, and look REALLY close for dead/stuck pixels, if you think you found one that's perfect, change the background color to something dark, and check again. 1 stuck pixel ut of the way isn't bad, but if it has a couple that are easy to notice, then move on to the next psp.
