i'd say must be bottlenecking some. hard to tell how much really unless u post us some benchmark results. run the res evil 5 benchmark and compare it with other people who have 260's at a similar res.

if you are off by a good ten fps or so then yeah you can start looking at the cpu as a culprit.

It might be worth moving from your Pentium D.

Check my specs, my GPU is performing as a 9600gt (4770 its 30-40% more powerfull)

considering my cpu same than yours (oks yours have 500mhz more, but X2 architecture is better than pentium D i think...),

If my statments are right, yes, you are bottlenecked.

Get a new CPU.
the rest of the rig it's ok.

That Pentium D it's holding you down.

Get a cheap quad or a duo with lots of cache.

Yep you are bottlenecked it's not same like P4 D 3.0GHz and core 2 duo 3.0GHZ it's a BIG difference so take one cheap quad and overclock

Huge bottleneck, HUGE. You can get the new e6 series or e7 series to hold you over.

you try 3dmark vantage (windows vista required!) without Bottleneck for GPU tests only but pXXXXX is not normal because "CPU tests" are culprit.

yeah i was being nice!

(i'll be more brutally honest next time). my point wasnt about the amount of the bottleneck but looking at other people perf with a 260 and comparing it. quite easy to download a few benchmarks and run some tests or dig up some 260 reviews hilbert did here @ guru.

For just gaming even 4GB will still do. You're safe with 6GB for a while longer.

I'll just re-confirm what everyone else has told you, a 3GHz Netburst CPU would bottleneck a GTX260 to hell and back. An Asus P5N-D support all Core 2s but you may need a BIOS update. Update your BIOS, shove in a 45nm Core 2 Quad, overclock it as much as you possibly can and call it a day.

I'd recommend going quad, rather than dual core. Even games nowadays are becoming very quad-core friendly, and unless you want to get an entirely new system, a quad core is the way to go. Go for the Q8400, or if you have a bit more cash, the Q9550.
