Default frying Voodoo cards left and right - 06-21-2002, 00:01 | posts: n/a

My second Voodoo PCI board just died on me! The last one was almost a year ago, but twice in a lifetime seems too often to me. I'm not overclocking or anything like that, so what might be causing these cards to burn up and die?

I just ordered a new GeForce4, so I really don't want to have that get fried as well.

Any ideas y'all have would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm....

Could be. My tower is teeny tiny, and there's not much space in there for air to circulate. Maybe I should put in an additional fan just in case?

Do you think the GeForce will run the same risk?

Any newer 3d accelerator card have those risk of being fried. With such core and memory running at very high speed, that why all those newer cards got heatsink/fan on the chip and sometimes on the memory as well.

I would definitely recommend getting a fan in your case, and make sure your PSU isn't gettin power spikes, or anything like that in your current that could possibly overload the card itself

Removing your case is and using adhesive tape or anything else you have lying there with your cables is good for the air's circulation.
