Error! No Quake3 PAK files detected. -

| posts: n/a
.. is the error-message which occour. I have triple checked the path.ini that should locate my Quake3 library.
Secondly if I remove User Settings, the program alerts with another error: Path not found.
Third and last, the program starts up afterwards (second) but no demos appears. Maybe because it couldn't find any PAK files. I have copyed both demo's from the Quake3 .pk3 files, both in demos\, BASEQ3 and BASEQ3\Demos.
Any suggestions?
Infos:
Windows 2000 Professional with NTFS file systems on two harddrives. The third one is Fat32.

The q3path.ini file should look like:
C:\...whatever...\Quake III Arena\
Your Q3.exe should be located:
C:\...whatever...\Quake III Arena\Quake3.exe
Your PAK files should be located (example)
C:\...whatever...\Quake III Arena\BaseQ3\pak1.pak
Maybe try going into the Advanced Tab and click on "Relocate Quake3.exe
Also, remember - with most versions of Quake3 there are no built in demos - including the newest 1.31
Demos should be located in a folder who's path will look like:
C:\...whatever...\Quake III Arena\BaseQ3\Demos\mydemo.dm_xx

Well, I do have the newest version - also do I have the right paths specified.
But, the pak files isn't named pak1.pak but pak1.pk3 - Also the gamedir is named Quake3\.

Yep ... *.pk3. I wasn't remembering right.
If you click on the 'over-ride' button, every single file in the demos folder will be listed.
Did you use the button/tab on the advanced tab to refind your Quake3.exe manually?
Here's how it works (if Quake3.exe is found manuall)
This is stored (and reused) in the "q3_path.ini" file.
For me it lookes like: "D:\Games\Quake III Arena\"
The Q3FolderPath variable will hold that path string
The path to your baseq3 folder will be held in this variable:
Q3_Baseq3_Folder = Q3FolderPath + "baseq3\"
The path to your demos folder will be held in this variable:
Q3_Demo_Path = Q3_Baseq3_Folder + "demos\"
-----------------------------------------------
I know you're not having a drive change problem because I installed q3bench on drive C and my Quake3 game is installed on drive D. (know some other people like this).
And finally here's the location of the Pak file error you had:
TempA = Dir(Q3_Baseq3_Folder & "*0.pk3")
If TempA <> "pak0.pk3" Then
MsgBox "ERROR! No Quake3 PAK Files Detected!"
(Pak0.pk3)
Well - the whole game shouldn't work unless you have that core Pak file.
I should have put some troubleshooting buttons in the app. For example it would be interesting to know exactly what the 'Q3_Baseq3_Folder" variable holds while in the app.
Also, I could make a button to write a file "temp.txt" to that path and then we would know if there is maybe a drive problem.
Otherwise - Almost nothing has changed with Q3Bench for Quake3 since the last version and no one (except you two) have complained about this problem. I think there have over 50K total downloads from all the mirrors.

Here is how it is.
I cant launch the program without deleting User Settings, remember? I also tried deleting the User settings, but then I can't use anything in the Q3Bench. Not even Override or Relocate Q3.exe.
:|
I also have the hame in D:\Games\Quake III Arena\ as specified in the path.ini.

Hi,
I'm having a few probs running the RTCW version of q3becnh.
When i try to locate wolfmp.exe, q3bench says no q3 .pak files found.
If I try and runthe becnhmark after editing the INI file it says invalid wolfmp.exe locatiom (I think).
This happens with both GOTY and the oringal version on XP. XP pro and 2000K pro.
Any ideas?
If anyone still checks here
Thanks

I'm having this problem with the pak files too. I tried copying the pak0.pk3 file to the Quake 3 root directory, but this didn't work, so I moved it back.
Also, I searched through the registry for any entries containing the string 'q3bench' and found 2 or 3 of these. But there is nothing in them other than the (default) REG_SZ value.
I am using Quake 3 version 1.30 on Windows XP Pro.

I've sussed it a while back now.
You need to have launced the wolfMp.exe at least once before running the benchmark.
At leaset this solved it for me.
Always a bit of a prob when ttrying to benchmark a new system

What is WolfMP.exe? Where do I get it? What does it do?
Thanks by the way. As soon as I'm told where to get this from and what it is, I'll give it a shot.

Its the exe to run RTCW multiplayer game.
Just start a multiplayer game, shut it down and try running the bench mark
