Default GPU limit 5870 Bios 1200 core 1400 memory - 10-02-2009, 17:53 | posts: 904 | Location: Uk

Now you dont need to use AMD GPU TOOL to set the core speeds
keeping ATIPLAY enabled and idle speeds enabled

just flash this bios onto your 5870 cards make sure there based on the reference cards if you flash any other 5870 other than asus ect.

this bios was uploaded by RBE developer and fixes the issues we all have with 5870s trying to get them past 900core 1300 memory with the MSI overclocking tool

have fun cause i will.

Extremly good find

Flashed both cards with the 1200/1400 bios and your tool fully works now
still some bugs with sync mode as sometimes when you change a setting the other card doesnt unless you manuely select them ect ect

but as for everything else

GPU clocks ect and Voltages aswell as Ati power play all fully working

A couple of questions.

1/ The bios you linked to is 123kb wheras the original bios of my Sapphire 5870 is 128kb...what gives? and theyre both .bin files?...thought they were supposed to be .rom files?

2/ what are the paramaters for flashing?

Im pritty sure the bios i flashed is 128k as i just looked
all you have to do is rename the .bin to .rom so that atiflash can read it.

the flashing info is straight forward.

atiflash -i
Command to use if your under crossfire to see what your device id`s are being 1 and 0

atiflash -p -f * bios.rom

* = your device id 0 or 1

just remember to back up your original bios with GPUZ.
