Unhappy computer overheats to 80+ need advice on CPU cooler. - 09-22-2009, 15:00 | posts: 51 | User is Offline

hey guys.
my CPU is currently over heating above 80c
its been happening for a few months, keeps turning off on me when gaming.
it gets too hot.

what i'm looking for is a AMAZING cooler price range $90 and down.
and i will purchase Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste along with it.
my current processor is E6600 Dual Core 2.4 ghz.
runs lightning fast but due to overheating i cannot do anything! due to the shut downs!

basically i need a good cooler from NewEgg, which is compatible with my processor E6600 Dual Core and AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz, which will be my next choice in processor once i have the money to buy it along with my new pc build, but for now i need a cooler that will work with both!, it has to be AM3 compatible too!
thank so much guys! appreciate any help i can get!

try this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118223

Be sure to have a cooled room, your ambient air temp is as important as the cooler you use. You also have to make sure you have good airflow in your case as well. Be sure to have at least one or two case fans, preferably 120mm case fans.

For me, I have 2 case fans (one in the front sucking air in and one blowing out at the back underneath the PSU fan), 1 PSU fan and a Zalman CNPS8700 LED CPU heatsink.

yes, it's meant for Intel and AMD processors. Most Zalman coolers are interchangeable with many sockets.

The Arctic Cooling will not work on AMD processors. They made one for Intel and another one for AMD.

The Cooler Master V8 is a great cooler, but I think it's too large for most cases unless you have a full tower. I don't think it's gonna fit in a standard mid tower.

it might, not sure.

I know it'll fit on AMD boards as per the cooler's specs.

I've heard zero therm is a solid cpu cooler not that expensive either.

I just put a V8 in my Antec 900 and the only thing is I had to remove my side fan which was a good fan but the system is not missing it at all.

The case looks like it will not close but it does just fine with no contact from the side panel to the top of the V8.
