Unhappy Divx looks better on voodoo than in Geforce,Why?? - 06-19-2002, 01:51 | posts: n/a

Hi guys, I have a MSI Geforce 2 Mx 400 with Tv output feature, and I use it to watch some DIvx movies(DVD RIP), on it.
The problem is that this week, I mounted a computer for my sister and I put a Voodoo 3 on it. I reproduced the same movie on it an for my surprise, the quality on the voodoo was much better than in Geforce. On Geforce, the dark scenes look pixelating a lot, and on the voodoo, the video is smooth. On Geforce the video flickers on high speed scenes,on voodoo it´s smooth.
It´s strange cuz 3dfx is death already, and Nvidia keep sending new drivers for their geforce family. I´m using the latest drivers form both cards.I tested with Divx 4 and 5. No change.
Even on the VGA monitor, voodoo image quality is superior.
Any clue for this???
thanks...

Voodoo3 2d core were derived from voodoo banshee 2d core which at it time got the best 2d quality. Very superior when at last were topped by matrox g450. The geforce cards were very good at 3d but got a low quality (or lame ) 2d core.
