Default Rivatuner Low-Level Fan Control - 08-27-2009, 13:53 | posts: 4

Hi everyone,

yesterday I've re-installed my Windows XP system. I have a GeForce GTS 250. I used the latest NVIDIA drivers and the latest Rivatuner version.

Currently I am not ably to manually change the Fan speed in the Low-Level configuration. As a power user I changed the minimum value to 20, as I had it before. Nothing else. If I go to the Low-Level Options and change the speed to 20%, some seconds later it gets back to 35%.

I'm not entirely sure if I have changed anything else, but it worked for sure before. In windows I always have silent 20% with reduce clock speeds for memory (my cards gets constantly 48°C) and if I play a game, I change both back to default.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance.

As Unwinder so politely explains, nvidia drivers have automatic fan adjustment set on in the driver. Try downloading ntune from nvidia and set fan control to manual from nvidia control panel. Then you should be able to adjust fan from RivaTuner.

Thanks for your help. I will try this.

But... I'm pretty sure I didn't have to download "ntune" before and it worked perfectly. There must be another setting which I don't hit, or the compatiblity has changed since lates version of driver and rivatuner.

Stop trolling. Coming to software forum and saying "is it a bug in your software" directly to software developer is equal to asking "are you stupid and did your job improperly". And it is REALLY impolite, especially if your knowledge is limited in this area. Normal users at least apologise for posting such false bugreport. Probably you've to create something yourself and deal with people like you to understand it.

I've found the answer myself just now.

Before you can change the Fan Low Level speed, you have go to "Driver Settings \ Fan" and change "Driver-level fan control settings" -> "direct control".

Maybe this will help someone else. So no ntune requiered for my problem.

Is there a way to save all settings (Target adapter and Driver settings) to one profile? I'm a very simple user and just want 2 profiles. One for Windows use (20% fan speed with low clock speed for memory) and one profile for gaming with everything to nvidia default.

I played around with the profiles, but I think what I need is not possible, because If i add Launcher -> Regular Item I can only select a profile for fan driver level OR low level, but I need change both. (You have to change fan control to -> direct control instead of auto control).
