if that's the naming convention they will use of course? Their hd4*** series is great and I really want to upgrade however I will wait till their next gen. So how long will I be waiting and any ideas of performance increases over the hd4*** series? Cheers

Don't think there's any actual stats about the cards and their performance. Though a single 48701GB performs consistently better then a 3870X2, the X2 might get higher FPS but the 4870 surely holds a higher average FPS.

So if they jump up anything like they did from the 3xxx series to the 4xxx series then you could assume the 5870 will be similar speed to a 4870X2, making the 5890 even faster and of course a 5870X2 even faster then that.

This is all of course guessing.. could be totally wrong, and I haven't actually looked into it too much myself so I'm just going on assumptions.

I think think the Ati HD5xxx comes with Windows 7, what is good so. But I do not think that the first directX11 genereation make wonders in performance.

Perhaps they are a lot faster, but only if they can use the full advantages of dx11, and befor we got games optimized for dx11 we must wait, perhaps more than a year.
