Default Windows 7 x64 RTM slow welcome screen - 07-28-2009, 00:19 | posts: 66 | User is Offline

Hello, I have some slow boot, I don't know if that's normal or not as I didn't have this slow boot with W7 x64 RC1 7100

The welcome screen will take like 8 seconds and then the desktop appears without shortcut icons, it takes more 2 seconds for them to appear on the desktop

No it is the same tan RC for me... have you try to look the multiboot option? and dissable all exept Windows 7 RTM?

when passing from beta to RC boot where slow because it was searching wich one to boot but as they where at the same place it was a waste of time.

Well I'm on Win7 32bit, and I had a similar slow welcome screen problem, so not sure if this would apply to yours. I found when I changed my wall paper to a solid color, for some odd reason this would slow it down. When I switched back to the wallpaper, it went back to normal.

I can confirm that exact behaviour - it's a huge difference in loading (ready) time.
I thought i was going nuts, because changing to a solid color is usually the first or second thing i do after a fresh OS-install.

(W7 64 bit)

I solved this problem by creating a solid colour jpg and using that as a wallpaper.

I couldn't believe it but it works. Funny how quick it loads after using wallpaper instead of solid colors. I did what Nillbert did and it takes a second to load as opposed to the 30secs with just the solid color.
Thanks Gurus! You helped me out again.
