I recently installed accelero X-treme cooler for on my 4870x2. Core temps have come way down. ~ 55 at full load. However, I noticed that VRM phase 1, 2, and 3 temps reach 100 degrees. Is this normal???

With Furmark?

I think it's normal. My 4870X2 with a Koolance water block also reached about 110C on the VRMs.

With games however they usually stayed in the mid 80s.

This was after playing crysis warhead for 25 minutes. I never check my VRM temps before installing the accelero so I don't know what they used to be...

Apparently you weren't reading but the OP installed an aftermarket cooler on his X2 as did the next guy with a water block. The VRM's still just get super hot no matter what you use apparently.

As for stock coolers being Pants.. I believe they are more like Shorts.

(And as far as cooling with the stock one. It may get a bit noisy at times but I find the Stock X2 cooler to be reasonably good compaired to past coolers, and with a fanspeed that may get loud but allows for some overhead)
