Now I just hope that my game is actually unlocked tomorrow. Its annoying buying a game and not being able to play it right away...my own fault though it did say that its being released tomorrow...

Looks like I should get my copy tomorrow from Amazon but I wish now that I'd pre-ordered from GAME because with first-class postage the game was only 9p cheaper and I'd have had it today as GAME send games out on Wednesday with free first-class post! Oh well!

So what tweaks do people recommend for this game seeing as the in-game Display options neglect to include either AA or V-Sync options? I know you can force V-Sync on (which I'll be doing as I loathe screen tearing) but how do you enable AA? Can you add it through the game's Video.src file or do you have to force it?

i chose Anisotropic, but then i saw there is also anisotropicTrilinear - lacks in most games ....
Just spotted this post...

So am I right in saying that if I set...

ShaderPath(5)
Filtering(AnisotropicTrilinear)
FSAA(4)

...it'll set SM 4.0, trilinear anisotropic filtering and 4X AA respectively? What performance penalty is there for using AA?

The game is costing me £24.90 here in the UK which is about the going rate for a game purchased from an online retailer. If I bought the game locally from a shop then it'd be £29.99 - £34.99.

Yeah that's right, first game got released in the US way after the EU version but with DX10 support, after a while a DX10 support and enhancement patch was made available for the EU versions as well which along with enhanced graphics also changed most levels in the game, in particular the ones where you played as Billy or what his name was.
(Stealth was optional, you got better weapons earlier and some levels changed quite a bit in their layout.)

As for this game I got lucky with a store version (Seems to be available in several places now such as this online store - http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=95757 ), was thinking of getting it on Steam as that's where I have the first one but the price was better and I don't have to wait extra for it to be released or for the price to lower a bit.

Only played the first mission so far but I've been busy with other things and tweaks so I'll list those below.

Developer mode.

Add a shortcut to the game EXE and at the properties window, target field, add the parameter "-debugconf=DebugConf.scr" (There's also -nologos and -level if you know those level names, VillaAttack is one but the command is buggy as menus will be blanked out.)

After that go into the \InstallDir\CoJ2\ folder (And then the \Data\ folder after this step) and open Data0.pak with Winrar or a similar program and copy the DebugConf files to the \Data folder listed above, open them with notepad but first rename DebugConfDefault.scr to DebugConf.scr
(Def file lists all commands available for use.)

In my example the file looks like this.

!include("DebugConf.def")

NoLogos()
Cheats()
UseDeveloperKeys()
EnableLevelSelection()
LoadCheatMenuParamsOnLevelStart()
EasyAchievements()
EnableTestMPLevelMenu()
ShowSubLevels()

The first value will not be loaded due to the "!" symbol (Otherwise it'll load the entire Def file which is unneded, second value removes logos and after that it'll enable cheat commands (Needed for the other stuff to work.) and then developer keys are enabled (I don't know what those do yet) and then level selection for SP and MP maps will be enabled though I haven't found out where those are yet and finally some extra menus will be available along with a easier achievement unlock (Useless for the PC version though.)

Also open Data2.pak and go to either map folder and notice the DLC maps, unsure how to play them as the -level command is a bit bugged (If you know the menu layout you can save ingame after using it and then restart and load the save, will work properly but I don't know the level filenames yet.)

Bonus codes.

They're located in the CoJ .DLL file, there's two of them and they do the same thing so you only need to enter one.

585A926D
735S653J

For all the benefits to work you need to start a new game.
(Extra weapon and more money, also gives silver weapons in MP which is probably just visuals.)

Config files.

This is mostly covered but as mentioned altering some values such as shaders causes that value to reset to default, don't think it's coded yet though the engine supports it.
(They're located in the "C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood\Out" folder by default followed by the \Settings folder.)

Examples of what I use.

Not a huge change or anything (FSAA enabled, trilinear anistropic filtering, slightly better shading or what it does and larger shadow resolution for video, better frequency and channels for audio), going above the 48000 frequency for audio or having it higher in the control panel or audio driver control panel will cause the game to bug during speech.
