Like all the 185/86 drivers, these are misreporting video memory under dxdiag etc so it's back to 182.50

Yes it does look m M-chipish.. Dont know about standard cards, might give better iq but might mess with vidmem as cyber said....Reason is lower dedicated mems chips and more sysmem usage in the driver code

I will wait and see if others dl it and post on iq and mem usage

DXDIAG under-reporting your memory isn't a problem, I can set UT3 to max settings at max res and I have no framerate or buffer problems that would indicate I was running out of memory

Actually it is a problem, most noteably in Arma 2 (it stops you from choosing certain settings) and causes the game to auto load erroneous settings which directly affect performance.

Then its Arma2 with the problem

I just ran through UT3 with max settings, no problems for a hour and 4xAA

EDIT: I seriously doubt I could run UT3 at max settings without running out of video memory, but to be sure I am going to install Crysis Warhead and find out if it affect it too

The following may help.

Quote:
Windows 7 Limitations
These are behaviors that may be different from those in Windows XP and are related directly to the Windows 7 operating system.

• NVIDIA TurboCache
Windows 7 now controls the allocation of system memory to the GPU for TurboCache functions. The Windows 7 Display Properties pages show the shared system memory (SSM), or how much memory is allocated for NVIDIA GPUs to use for TurboCache. For more information on graphics memory reporting under Windows 7, visit http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device...icsmemory.mspx.

Operating System Issues
• World of Warcraft – there is a 60% drop in performance when running the game in windowed mode with SLI or multi‐GPU mode enabled.
This is due to a limitation of the Windows 7 operating system and affects all multi‐GPU systems. NVIDIA is investigating a workaround for this performance problem.

• GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB: The driver reports incorrect video memory (256 MB) in the Windows 7 Display Properties panel.
This is an issue with the operating system, and is addressed in the Microsoft KB article 936484.
Note: The NVIDIA Control Panel properly reports the dedicated video memory as 320 MB.

It's a problem with Win 7/Nvidia drivers and not A2.

I don't really care about UT3 and I don't know how you being able to play UT3 for an hour with 4 x AA is relevant to this discussion.

I clearly said it doesn't affect all games.

Whoa relax bud

Anyways, just tested Crysis Warhead with Enthusiast settings, and I got my highest average framerate yet with these drivers with half a hour of testing and no problems with my overclocked card

TF2 works fine, so does L4D. I wish I knew what things this driver fixes

VAL - See I can sign my posts like some high and mighty clod too

EDIT: "Actually it is a problem, most noteably in Arma 2 (it stops you from choosing certain settings) and causes the game to auto load erroneous settings which directly affect performance."

You never said it didn't effect other games, you just said it was a generalized problem affecting games, most notably Arma 2

I just got done testing FOUR games on maximum settings and I got no problems with framerates or running out of texture memory (Got 29FPS average in Crysis Warhead 1.0)

I tested UT3, Crysis Warhead 1.0, TF2, L4D and while I was talking just tested Diablo 2 and Mass Effect, hell even my PS2 emulator is working, and all of them don't have a problem even with Direct X reporting 366MB memory

If all my other games work even with DXDIAG mis-reporting my memory size, then the problem lays with Arma 2 and Microsoft, NOT Nvidia

EDIT2: http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9234/73047582.jpg

There, Nvidia Drivers are reporting the right amount of memory and also the extra memory it can use with my system RAM if it has too, so again, this problem is with Microsoft DXDIAG and Arma 2, Not Nvidia

It will also affect GTAIV, where without forcing settings in the command line for the game, you are only able to select certain settings with a certain amount of memory.

So, the driver was intended for mobile products.... and they've introduced problems with SLI on Windows7 now. Do the problems actually effect all multi-GPU setups, or just nVidia again?

Not sure yet Hey guys this is NOT a place for arguing it is a place to report how drivers work. Thanks

That is just what i was eluding too. Good catch

It is a problem with both M$ and Nvidia still not fully trusting each-others programming code for windows 7

If their drivers get WHQL'd, MS must trust them. MS has to digitally sign the drivers for WHQL. Driver model for Windows7 hasn't changed that much from Vista....so why is nVidia having problems with SLI again?

Ok for some results

TF2 I got the highest FPS average yet, stayed 299FPS average the whole time I played around in Achivement_Box3, lowest I saw was 282FPS, but thats much higher then the lows of 250FPS dips I would see before

L4D I got my highest FPS and Average FPS ever, Averaged 150FPS throughout the game

However, with these drivers I also recorded some of the lowest spikes in FPS yet, as the game went down to 60-70FPS in some key area's I took note before, but this was very brief (Half a second) as average FPS was way higher, but I would also like to note that this is the first time I have spawned a zombie horde ontop of me and have -NOT- had a 20FPS dip, spawning 50 zombies and 4 boomers puking on me FPS stayed above 50-60FPS at all times, no stuttering dips

UT3 I didn't really notice any improvements in FPS, more or less it stayed about the exact same, I did notice some spikes of extreamly high FPS at times

Mass Effect on average is 4FPS higher then before, noted durring some key scenes I would mark FPS. I saw no dips in framerates though

As I said before Crysis Warhead I saw my highest FPS and highest Average FPS yet, and only using version 1.0 at that

I also took note of temperatures, overall my GPU was being worked quit abit harder, I recorded Temps in the 60C's with full fan and a 70F room, highest I have gotten before, even with Crysis was 56C

As for IQ, I didn't notice anything funky going on with any of the games EXCEPT Crysis Warhead

First I thought my card was overheating, but after clocking down and restarting crysis warhead I still had the same artifacts

For some reason some vines in two places the outside edges were pixel shaded in bright white, card temps were fine, and after 30 minutes of ATI tool testing and 10 minutes of furmark testing showed my card was fine at both normal and overclocked settings. I attribute it to a game bug, as other tree's with vines did not show these problems other then the two I found on some cliff sides
