Default Windows Live Messenger 2009 problems - 03-30-2009, 14:56 | posts: 7,290 | Location: The Netherlands

Dear Guru3D users,

It has been a long time since I have been on Guru3D, but I really need your Guru3D skills and knowlegde right now.

I have a problem with the new Live Messenger (version 2009), I have the latest version installed.

The problem is that the program hangs a lot. It only happens when my status is set to everything else than "Show offline", so I am really online. It never hangs when my status is set to "Show offline".

The problem does not occur everytime I am online.

I think that someone in my contact list is having a virus on his or her computer, and tries to send it to me. But I have no clue who it can be. How can I find out what exactly happens when it crashes? And can I find out if someone has a virus in my contact list?

Thanks.

EDIT - By the way, I have it only with my account too. It never hangs when someone else is logged in on my computer. And I have the problem too on my laptop, with my account.

EDIT: ok so its just your account

Yes, I already tried that.

Already tried the second too, but that did not solve the problem. I have such a huge contact list, that it is almost impossible to import them manually.

If it comes to it, try and figure out who it is thats causing the problem of your contacts (if you're pretty sure it is that), Note whose online when it happens, block any contenders one by one, see if it resolves it ??? lol

BTW is it just on Live 2009 or if you installed an older version does it still happen?

Are you running Windowblinds? I had SOOO many problems with WLM 2009 when I first got it due to running Windowblinds 6.2.

I have not tried it with an older version, I never had it with the previous version (8.5) though. And I do not have it on the Apple with Messenger for Mac 7.0.2.

I have about 300 contacts in my list, but I will watch and write down who is online when it happens. Thanks for the tip!

No, I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32bits on my PC and Business 32bit on my laptop. Both without any skinning applications.

old account - Contacts > save contacts

then new windows live account

contacts > import contacts.

Already did mate, but that did not solve the problem, since I still have the same contacts in my list.
