i feel i must tell everyone about the daniel k drivers

i was unimpressed with some of the sound quality in some games(most notable was voices not being heard loud enough) i searched the web and found : daniel k's creative support pack 1.0

it includes the latest driver, console launcher and thx console (the bare minimum needed components)

after using DH drivercleaner.net i installed the pack then restarted windows, as soon as the xfi splash came up i could already hear a major improvement, and sure enough when i started playing fear2 again the sound quality was soooo much better and clearer..........

i dunno how hes done it but i highly recommend it you can find the support pack here: http://forums.creative.com/creative...hread.id=135215&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

and a new beta driver here:

Yes, great driver although it doesn't enable hardware DTS decoding. The last PAX driver has some errors and Rob's forum seems to be down. So this is good change at the moment.

I really want to try this. Is it missing anything versus the Creative drivers?

yes volume panel is missing but heres how to include it: after installing support pack, insert your xfi driver disc and install only the volume panel then restart, you will now have danielk drivers with the volume panel, then to update volume panel run previous console launcher update( 2.60.29 from creative.com) it will skip the console update since you now have 2.60.35 and then it will update volume panel with 2.20.65..........

    enjoy!!!

my card is xtreme gamer oem also , and i had no probs....

did you first uninstall all creative drivers etc and then run driver cleaner?? you must use drivercleaner/sweeper

also try just danielk support pack 1.0, see how it goes and then install the beta driver if you wish

Should I install the service pack and then the beta? Doesn't the service pack install a driver?

the support pack will install driver 2.18.0008
    the beta is 2.20.0000

    these are steps i took:
(starting with original creative drivers allready installed)
    1. go to control panel - add/remove programs
remove all creative products and driver then reboot
2.cancel any new hardware messages.go to device manager to make sure the device is not there, if its still there uninstall it then reboot into safe mode ( press f8 )
3.run driver cleaner /sweeper , remove creative drivers etc, reboot.
(this step is neccesary as original drivers may clash with mod drivers if left on the system)
    4. unzip supportpack to hdd eg: c:/support
5.install danielk support pack 1.0, reboot

and this is all you really need to do.
you should run a game, movie or music and enjoy your new sound quality

only install the beta driver if you really want to
    to do so

    1. if you unzipped to c:/support then go to c:/support/drivers/SBXF
and click on this setup.exe (replace SBXF with appropriate card drivers setup, choices are : SBXF, SFHX, AUZEN or 20K2 be sure to choose correct folder.)
clicking on setup.exe here will bring up a creative driver upate utility-
click driver uninstallation and tick -delete all shared creative audio driver files- then hit ok
this will take a min then you'll need to reboot
once rebooted simply run the setup.exe from the beta driver folder and reboot once again

again this step is entirely a matter of personal choice as it is beta

Is this daniel k back to making new drivers or are these the old ones he made?
And how much better are they than PAX
Also will i notice anything on my 2.1 setup as i have no need for more than a good 2.1 setup cause i live in a appt and the neighbors bitch over my 6 or 8 inch woofer although it does bang like a 12 inch for some reason.

No need to uniinstall the old drivers! I've been running them for 4 weeks nows on Win 7 and everything is GREAT!!! First install the drivers from Creativ, then the support pack over that, then software updates through the auto software update tool. Everything stays working great!
