Default Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X trailer - 02-07-2009, 10:00 | posts: 6,350

I'm not sure what to make of the game just yet. It just looks great but the arcade factor might be a bit of a downer really. In Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X you'll be flying high tech fighter pilots...

Looks pretty kickass. Wish there were more of these kind of games. As it stands now there's Ace Combat and Over-G....Over-G was meh. It was too much of a real-world modern simulation, which is really just firing a missile from outside or just inside visual range most of the time.

I think this looks great, like Iarwain said theres just not many decent arcade combat flight sims about (especially for PC).

That's exactly what I'm looking for, tbh. A nice arcade style flight sim for in between.

Preliminary release date for the US is March 6, 2009, btw.

OMG you read my mind Cyber. That's what the game is. An arcade style flight game in the tradition of Ace Combat. I cannot wait for this game!!! Does anyone else play Ace Combat (any of them)? I hope this game is better. Ace Combat rocks, but I'm waiting for a great PC game. I haven't had a playstation in years.

No, the game is very arcade, like ace combat.

I thought the demo in leipzig was pretty good, and it looked great, using the flight stick and throttle was cool as well.

I'm just surprised it's not out already, that demo was in august.

Well since it's not a ****ing flight sim, then third person is ok. It's an arcade style shooter where you have crazy dog fights & try to blow **** up with missiles. It does not simulate flying. It's like Need For Speed of the sky. i.e. Need For Speed vs. Grand Turismo.

Fable 2 & Ace Combat 6 are the two reasons that I would ever buy a 360.

Gotta say that the 'arcade style' aspect of this game is what appeals to me. Never found much interest in sims - I miss the old Falcon games on DOS.

Exactly, sims really are not that fun because you have to do everhing like you would do in RL. I play games to escape RL thank you very much.

I was kinda thinking of the racing sims when I wrote that . Have you played a flight sim though? What a PITA it is to even take off!!! This game will be more like Press A to take off. I like simple.

MS FSX does have a simple mode too, which is customizable from arcade to life, press on the button and go!

I play flight sims and I don't find it hard to take off at all

Now if they made an arcade game with flight sim damage models... that would be awesome.

About the assistance off mode... does it always zoom you out like that? because IMO thats very bad fail if it does..

can you guys imagine the multiplayer? assuming it has it. should be pretty fun but frankly, just pure dogfighting does get old pretty quick.

anyone remember trying to land on an aircraft carrier in Top Gun on nes? lol good times. I do hope you get to land the planes in hawx rather than have it done for you like some aircraft arcade games do.

Well if it were awesome, like Crimson Skies on xbox, then it could have capture the flag and various other kinds of games.

If it were awesome.
