This is a very noble thought, I will do so if I got some extra money to spend.. But what if I get you a rig of two HD 3870 (MSI RX3870 512MB GDDR4 OC) for testing purposes? I'm only asking, since I have no PC to investigate the crossfire problem..

I probed a few of my sources and couldn't find any info about expected WHQL release date. So waiting could take a long time and I dropped the idea.

You must install and start RivaTuner at least once to get it registered in the system as RTU file handler and allow opening such files from OS shell. But it is important for third party update files only, why are you trying to open driver update manually? RT installer will offer you to install it automatically in the end of installation process.

Hehe, somebody still use old rusty G92 : ) Seem to be result of "Fixed idle memory clock frequency detection for G9x GPU based systems supporting memory clock frequency generator switching to PCIE bus clock (e.g. GeForce 9800GTX+ series display adapters)." It is in idle or under load too?

The low-level fan control is not working at all on my Palit 9800GT. With 2.22 it was fine.
Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, looks like I've found the problem. Any G9x can be affected and report wrong PCIE bus clock regardless of idle/load state.

Owners of non-reference design boards like Palit 9800GT are out of luck since this version, sorry. Since this version default RT will always default to alternate G92 PWM controller used on reference design 9800GTX boards.
Non-standard controller usage can be forced by adding your display adapter entry to [FANPWM] section of RivaTuner.cfg and setting controller type to 4.

Quick G9x memory 100MHz fix for power users:
1) Create text RivaTuner223_G9x_Fix.rts text file with the following contents:
[Common]
SrcFile = RivaTuner.exe
DstFile = RivaTuner.new
BakFile = RivaTuner.old
MakeCRC = 1
Src0 = 3D A0 00 00 00 72 0B 6A 02
Dst0 = 3D 90 00 00 00 72 0B 6A 02
2) Run this patch script, it will generate RivaTuner.new (fixed) and RivaTuner.old (original backup) in RivaTuner's application folder.
3) Close RivaTuner then rename RivaTuner.new to RivaTuner.exe
