Yes it should support after a BIO's upgrade. I believe AMD is releasing two types of their new CPU's, some for the AM2+ boards and the new AM3 boards.

This is a very smart business move on AMD's part, bios updates to run the 920's and 940's on AM2+ platforms. AMD realizes there are tons of us waiting for a good cpu to replace existing Athlon and Phenom I cpu's. As long as your mobo supplier has done the legwork, good to go.

Next year the new AM3 boards and cpu's will be released.

Our old mobo's won't support AM3. What AMD did is let us fit the Phenom IIs in AM2+ sockets.

AM3 must be 940 pins just like am2, just the main difference is ddr3...I don't know, unless they plan to release an adapter or something for it.

Well, they did say AM3 CPUs have both DDR2 and DDR3 support, so it will work.
