Default ATI 8.12, RT 221, RivaTuner64.sys - 12-18-2008, 14:28 | posts: 4

Vista Ultimate x64
CPU: E6850
GFX: 3870X2
PSU: 580W
MEM.: 4gig.
ATI 8.12 Driver

I installed RT 221 but when trying to run it i get a message that says:
"cannot load RivaTuner64.sys driver. Please ensure that file exists in riva's tuner folder and user account has administrative rights"

The file "RivaTuner64.sys""exists in the RT folder.
I have Admin rights.
Searching the registry i found this:
"\??\H:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner v2.21\RivaTuner64.sys"
H:\Program Files (x86)\ is where i installed it but does "\??\" mean? if i remove them and start RT the message comes up and if i check the registry vallue again it has been restored to the one shown above ..

Is there anything i can do to start RT? the noise from the 3870X2 fans is really driving me nuts. ATT latest beta version does not allow me to change the fan settings .. or at least the fan speed wont change after changing the value of the fan speed.

when installing rivatuner, did you allow the update to install also?
if not, just double click on the "RivaTuner221Drv.rtu" file

Singed 64-bit driver is included as update in Guru3D RT distributive. Always install all updates during RT installation (in will offer you to install the updates in the end of installation process). And really, it was asked and answered at least 1000 times before. So next time use search please. Closed.

After installation no posibility for an update was offered .. niether was there a "RivaTuner221Drv.rtu" file .. i downloaded the file and placed in the RT root folder but executing it asked me for an associated program.

At the end of the installation process no updates were offerd nor asked me to update.

Where you've downloaded RT from? The only legal and official hosters are www.nvworld.ru (in .ru domain only) and www.guru3d.com (elsewhere besides .ru domain). The rest places hosting it violate EULA and sometimes "optimize" the distributive by removing "unwanted" files from it.
