Default RT 2.20 & GTX 260 216-core: unable to overclock - 12-07-2008, 19:23 | posts: 35

In driver-level overclocking tab, the clock speeds are "N/A" and whenever I try to enable overclocking, regardless of whether I do "Detect Now" or "Reboot" it just reverts back to this:

Tried both 180.48 (WHQL) and 180.84 (Left 4 Dead/GTA4 beta driver).

Any ideas, anyone?

I was having the same problem with my SLI'd 9800GTXs, although for me, the problem was unique to the 180.84 drivers. The 180.48 WHQL driver had RivaTuner running just peachy. I would uninstall the .48, safe mode/driver sweeper, install .84, and RivaTuner would overclock--until the next restart, whereupon I'd get the same as your screenshot.

Anyway, what worked for me is to disable driver signature enforcement (I'm running Vista x64). Give it a try if you haven't already, best of luck.

Edit: Also, I don't know if it's necessary, but I thought it was prudent to rebuild RT's registry data base (append "/build" to your shortcut) after installing drivers/disabling driver signature enforcement.

I also have this problem. Was running rivatuner with nice overclocks with 180.48 but after 180.84 i get the same problems as Blahman. Tried everything that TehDOOM suggested without luck. Any other suggestions would be appreciated...thanks

187.13? Are they newer than 180.84? Like i said been using older drivers fine but wanted to know if i could use 180.84 with Rt as these drivers are better with GTA4. Thanks in advance

the thing is when you have 180.48 or lower its all good but when u upgrade to 180.84 it dosent work in rv and when u later go back to 180.48 it still dosent work..

even if u reboot or take detect clock still same ****... the fan works just fine but cant se no clocks..

It was repeated many, many, many times that clock control is NOT available when you select non-primary display adapter head in the main tab or when you disable 2D/3D clock control yourself during enabling overclocking. So please either start using the search function or switch to beginner oriented simplified version of RivaTuner - EVGA Precision. Two solutions, both are working, and the thread is closed.

edit: I fixed it by doing a "Reset all the driver's settings to their default values" under Driver settings->Customize... and rebooting. Woohoo!

Thats odd,
My MSI 260 came with an overclocking software that was installed in Vista. If I want all I have to do is move the sliding bars, I thought all 260s & 280s came with that?

good for you, this is a RivaTuner forum

Personally if I am going to overclock its RT or nothing... can't beat having hotkeys for different OCing/fan control levels and a revert to stock safety button.

Well,
It automaticly set itself up in OC so I couldnt see having to re-tune it any further. My stats as one can see are pretty good for a stock 260 untouched.
