Default Converting Texture memory into video memory - 11-23-2008, 18:08 | posts: 3

I have a 2 yrs old laptop which i still want to use for gaming. But as i see the weakest chain in the computer is the ammount of video memory. Is it possible to transfer texture memory into video memory?

Some details:

The computer has an Ati X1400 Graphics card with 128MB built in memory, and it can use HyperMemory. When i play a game the ATT's HUD says I have about 64 megs of VM and approx. 400MB of texture memory. Depending on game settings i can zero down the VM size(and then the game slows down as hell), but no way the Texture memory. I have free TM more than 250 MBs no matter what i do... So there are lot of memory available, but dedicated for wrong thing... Do you have any ideas what should i do?

I read in forums that some pc-s allow to change these kind of settings in the bios, but mine can't...

So forget about it There are no software to do such thing except video board/driver itself

Thank you for the quick answer. You said the driver possibly can change it. I installed the Omega Driver (ver. 3.8.442). I heard it's the best for tweaking, is it possible i can set the memory allocation with it? Do you have any experiences with this driver?

Omega driver is the same reference Catalyst driver with additional registry tweaks. I have no experience with HyperMemory board so I don't know is there are any additional options available in driver or CCC
