Default Fan schedule only working while RivaTuner is open. - 11-22-2008, 21:59 | posts: 1,560 | Location: US

It was my understanding that RivaTuner worked using registry entries, and did not need to be open to make use of most of its functionality, however, none of my fan profiles will work unless I leave RivaTuner open, or trayed. I have background hardware monitoring enabled, and have tried both low level, and driver level setups, any ideas?

Of course it will not work. Who will do the scheduling job if RT is closed?

I suppose I misunderstood the FAQ on Guru3D about it, as it says RivaTuner can be closed, for all but a few features to work, but I suppose the scheduler falls under one of those exceptions.

Of course keeping it running in the background isn't a problem, so no worries.

Those features r probably meant to be the ones who edit register/files values (or overclock in case that nothing else modifies clocks), which are the most xP.

The fan speed launcher (w/c is RT icon on tray) is needed to "launch" the preferred user settings. While your fan profile is in the registry, it is not launched unless assisted by a launcher. I keep the "via registry" tick box checked (or ticked) in settings.
