Default What overclock method chose? - 11-12-2008, 23:47 | posts: 10

Hail,
i have always used Ati Tool or RivaTuner for overclocking my VGA, because i have always need a program for oveclocking only.
Now i just start to use ATT, and i see that use different method for overlcloking.

The ATI Overdrive 3, that i think is the "famous" driver overclocking level, and the manual overclock method.

ATI overdrive 3 method is easier and i can controll the 3D profile only that change automatically whit a 3D application; the manual method have more option like fan e voltage controll.

I have a Radeon X1800XT. What method you suggest me how the best for overclock my VGA?

And if i want to overclok a HD4850..what is the best method?

Bye and thanks.

I have a 4850 and use ATT overclocking with voltaje and COOL fan control.

With ATT you can make separate profiles for 2D and 3D Apps, each profile can also include a fan and voltaje profile, so you can use low RPM for 2D and high fan RPM for 3D.

By another way, with ATT low level overclocking, you can get some extra MHZ on the core and memory.

Ah Ok.. the last thing you say is what interest me.

There are some test about what have you say.. that overclocking by driver you can reach higher overclocking?

How much MHz we are talking?! 3 o 4 Mhz on the Core, or 20/25 Mhz of difference?

Ati Overdrive loosens the memory timings when it overclocks the Gfx card.

ATT is prob the better way to go.

mmm strange.. a lot of difference whit the 2 methods...

You use the Beta version of ATT or the last stable relase? Because now there is ATT Overdrive 5 in the Beta.
If you raide the GPU whit Overdrive 3 you have got artifacts whit ATT test?

With max OC (750/1150) i can play all my games but the temperature is a real problem in 4850 series.

Where do you get the software or bios upgrade to overclock the CPU or the graphics card? Please reply.
