Default Far Cry 2 graphics performance with 17 VGA cards - 10-22-2008, 00:13 | posts: 11,706 | Location: Guru3D Trenches | User is Offline

What we'll do today is what you can expect from a site like Guru3D.com, we take all modern GeForce and Radeon graphics cards, seek a nice image quality setting and report back to you what you can expect performance and quality wise from this bitching title. Seventeen cards versus 4 resolutions versus 3 runs per resolution.

Yeah, that's 204 benchmark runs ... and way too much of my time

Thanks for this I think this pushed me over the edge to pick it up. But seeing that the 9800gx2 runs like dog crap I hope my sli setup can push me to 40 which would make me happy.

Thats a nice collection of graphics cards you got there.

I recently got a 260 so am very pleased to see it up there with the 2 big boys. Took me 2 rmas and 4 re-builds but got there in the end. Looks like this game has to enter my collection!

I'd love to see a sli review or some more sli reviews...

Some game suggestions. This one, warhammer, bia3, next call of duty. Would be interesting reading over xmas!

Cheers

told you (in another thread) our X2 should rape in this game although it does at the highest res.

respect for the nvidia GTX260/280 too as at lower res eg. around 1920 and below the difference between the 4870X2 is pretty much nothing and amazingly they even win @ 1280x1024 by a couple-o-frames.

exciting times my friends

Don't worry, NVIDIA renders clould just as well. Look closer and you'll notice one trough the tree branches.

It's the same position, yet different time, these clouds move as part of their weather system.

btw i'm very happy to hear about the performance of this game, it seems they have optimized the game quite a bit compared to something like Crysis, performance on standard resolutions was actually really good even for older cards. nice.

Hilbert did not complain about DRM other than the activation time which is understandable, suppose it's a good sign too.

all in all this proves only one thing, the game is a must buy.

Nice review!

So from what I understood, FC2 dosen't support SLi or was that just the 9800GX2?

some games the 4870 is better, some the 260 and always remember that cheaper isn't always bad, remember the 8800GT compared to the GTS/GTX? cheaper and almost faster.

I think the 4870 was crippled by the new ATI hotfix drivers in this test - anyhow i'll soon know as I expect to get the game in the post tomorrrow....
