hi people i plan on buying the infocus IN78 but its only 720p in data (pc) mode so i was wondering if thats only means the vga/dvi data connection and not the HDMI, as it says its supports 1080p via video connections

i dont have enough money to buy the IN81 (1080P) so im hoping u can confirm if i will get 1080p from my pc via HDMI on the cheaper IN78

The display is native 720p, but will accept virtually anything over HDMI and scale it back to 720p. You should be just fine. The VGA port does appear limited to 720p ish resolutions, but HDMI seems good to go for anything.

thanks mate how does 1080p look when scaled down to 720p is it just like using 720p or will it look like 1080p but the pixels will be compressed and it look fussy or sumat

Seen it once and it looked too sharp, like it needed some smoothing filter.

My guess is you'll prefer 1080, but you can experiment and decide for yourself. Digital displays have excellent scalers and are designed to scale many things to a native resolution while retaining maximum quality. Just do an A/B comparison and trust your eyes.
