Default Went to display settings and suddenly had a red tinge - 08-10-2008, 16:56 | posts: 4 | Location: Germany

Hey,

I was looking where to switch off the FPS display in the upper right corner (found that lateron), and while looking around I went into Display->Settings. The moment I opened that window, my screen took on a red tinge. I rebooted, checked my cable (might have been coincidence after all), but all to no avail. I used the Video&Colors->Color Settings dialog for a rough fix, but I'm pretty sure I didn't get it right--the colours seem very off right now. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what might have happened and what I can do to undo it.

I have a Radeon X1950 Pro and I'm using the most recent version of ATT (v1.3.6.1042)

Edit: also, if that's relevant, I'm using the Omega Drivers 3.8.442 since I'm having real trouble getting anything to run with the normal drivers (anything 3D heavy crashes right away)

Does the red tinge appear only in Windows or right after you turn on the computer?. If it happens only in Windows, it's 99% a driver issue. If it happens anytime, anywhere, then it's a hardware problem, either from the video card or from the monitor.

Decane to the rescue... Go Display --> Settings... --> Displays tab --> under the active monitor, click Options --> Avivo colors tab --> Press the "Defaults button" to reset color temperature (yes, you guessed it: color temperature gets screwed up whenever you open the Display Properties window for the first time). Then press OK. Does it work? If not, you'll need to manually reset the color temperature by setting the slider somewhere to the left of half-way.

I believe the issue you're experiencing is a bug in one of the earlier versions of ATT. Shouldn't be around with the latest beta though..
