Hi

I have tried this tool, and it works great but I cant change the fan speed with CCC anymore. I really need more fan speed because when I had stock fan speed I get arctifacts with 820 on the core after 1sec, and when I had the fan speed at 50% a long time and let the temp go down, I could have 820 with no arctifacts for 1minute(didnt try more). So is there any program than CCC that let u get higher fan speed on HD4870.

Thanks
wekktor

Thanks! Great tool. It seems to work for the 3870X2 too. I can even read the temperature of each GPU (something ATT cannot do ATM for my card). Need to test some more of course. Too bad it cannot adjust the fan. However, I do have an Asus tool which can do that. Would be great if the AMD tool had that functionality included.

You could download a bios for youre card, and use RBE (techpowerup radeon bios editor) to edit youre clocks and fans and then flash the bios and its done. This way you dont need any software.

Thanks HaZe303!

The problem with this card (according to Ray) is that the fan is not on the primary device, but on the second). I believe him. Also, this is a kind of single slot CF thingie and most "standard" tools don't work.

I am not sure I want to flash the BIOS. Even the program to flash the updated Asus BIOS fails to recognize this card. And I don't want to lose it in case something goes wrong. At the moment I am happy with the tools I have.

I think there is a bug. When you press "Restore Default Clocks" then one GPU will be set to 297,00 and the other to 825,00. When you switch back to the one with 297,00 it will show up as 825,00 too.

Another bug. When switching from one GPU to another, even when you don't change clocks and just press "Restore Default Clocks" then sometimes the fan stops spinning. The fan also stops spinning when setting the clocks. Not very handy, because you must now restart the fan manually.

Yeah, big problem for me is that it resets the fan hack & soft-volts from CCC to default, and then disables ATI Overdrive. It's useless being able to increase beyond 700 MHz if I can't maintain the fan speed and voltage.

Just flash the card. You can go beyond 700MHz on core, adjust fan rules and even increase core voltage (needed to go past 700MHz).

I'd rather stick with software adjustments than risk BIOS mods.

I did. I'm just testing with 750MHz core... however it appears my modded VF-900 cannot keep up with the heat at silent fan speeds. It's just not stable. If i set it to max RPM, it works fine at 750MHz. But it sounds like jet at take off so thats clarly a no-go for me. So now i'm trying to re-locate allt he components to increase cold air intake and improve exhaust of hot air...

Actually its not risky to flash gfx bios. As long as you got another gfx card, you can always flash it again with youre backup bios or other bios if youre first flash would be corrupt. So very small risk, as long as you know what youre doing.
