Just press enter (nothing basically) then type in your windows password twice (as requested by the install.bat its self).

Either A) try deleting the config file (client.cfg) or B) make a shortcut to the fah.exe and add the -configonly flag

ok, I'll try that.

SMP client "run" as DOS window, can you get them as a little icon in the bottom right corner (like the "normal" client)?

Also, how do I know how many cores are used?

Use tray-it (linked in the sticky) and here for your conveniece.

Use task manager and the performance tab (or proccesses your choice).

in fact, my CPU is a Q6600, and I'm running GPU client.

Should I use SMP client? or install 4 text clients?

should I flag that: -local -advmethods -forceasm -verbosity 9

thanks

Shame on me that I haven't read the sticky- very handy tool indeed.

I would say that Aircool well deserves to be Mr. Don Aircooleone!

I just re-install 2 SMPs, one for Machine ID1, another for machine ID2 in 2 separate folders. So, I need to install affinity changer now?

Also, what configuration should I use for RAM? 2048 or 512 (2048/4)?

thanks

Yes.

Folding@Home SMP Client Affinity Changer

I'm not sure about the RAM, on my P4 with dual clients and 512MB RAM I would select 512 for both. How much RAM do you have? If you have 4 2GB sticks I would select 4096 for each client.

*NOTE* F@H will read something like 8185 available, select around 4085 for each client to be safe.

every client you run will consume up to 1GB of ram depending on the WU you are working on...so you can configure to 1024mb on each client with no problems...

I attempted to run the SMP with GPU2, but the SMP never started its work, it just sat at 0.

...can you start it without GPU2 client...and what machineID did you set for SMP client...every client you run(GPU or CPU) must have different id...
I think aircool sad something about setting machineID on SMP client to 4 or above...

How long did you wait? And did you check task manager to make sure the cores were still running?

ok, I've got the SMP client turned on, but its still sitting at 0 out of 25000. Meanwhile, the sidebar shows my CPU usage at 100% while the taskmaster shows FAH CPU usage at 0%. I'm becoming very confused and I haven't even attempted to run the GPU2 client at the same time yet. Oh, the SMP client is set to machine ID 4.

The FAH doesn't use the CPU power, it's the FahCore_a0 that should be using your CPU.

You should have four (4) FahCore_a0 processes in your task manager.

See, I'm not getting any. Perhaps I should restart my machine, would that help?

So there are not fah cores running?

That to me screams - did you install it properly?

Appy-polly-olligies if you did though.

Log please?

As far as I know I did, the restart helps quite a bit.

You have to restart to get the MPI Service running.

Is it working now?
