Default First time DX10 CRYSIS.And i have a huge performance drop in a specific point. - 06-12-2008, 15:28 | posts: 16,820 | Location: Turkey

Yoo,

i installed my Vista 32bit and Sp1 to it..in my oppnion SP1 did a great job..or NVIDIA drivers r better than last year. U can see my current specs @ leftside.

i can run CRYSIS @ all MAX, this time very high settings..no aa and af. but all MAX, very high setting..DX10 realy ooks and plays..ho can i say..smoother yeah..performance looks 3-5 FPS slower to my eyes but smoother...Anyway

The problem i have:

in the first mission u deployed from the plane and land the ebach u know..At the end of that level u meet with the rest of the squad. There u see a frozen/iced ship u know..and cinematic starts...@ that cinematic i opened console and i see FPS, it drops to "5" yes..it drops 25 to 5..wtf? in Xp i never had problem in that cinematic...and problem is on the SHIP view..if u turn to ur back and look there or right or left performance is same but when i turn to ship it is 5 FPS..like a slideshow...i realy couldnt understand..as i say , in Xp i never go that problem in that cinematic..and u know what? i set the settings ALL MEDIUM..gues what? it didnt changed *_* same as 5 FPS..realy annoying...i didnt continue game..i realy disappointed...My drivers r latest offical NVIDIA drivers..version 175 something.? yeah....for only because of this i am thinking to turn back to Xp :\

No, you don't run Crysis at max if AA/AF isnt turned up full... so you're just running it at Very High settings.

Did u install the latest patches for crysis?

I never had that problem using DX10 all settings very high no AA. The fps dipped at that point (cos of all the steam/fog from the frost) but it was still playable didn't go below 20fps.

yeah.... you're bound to have to drop the settings at some point.... usually once you get to where you start seeing ice/frost/clouds from the ice. it's quite easily possible to run the game at very highe settings with a slightly lower resolution than one usually uses on other games, and still have playable framerates.... but once you get to the ice... not so easy.

If you save and restart the game on the last level/end boss part, you get better FPS! Don't know if that would help anyone else though.

All through the game 1920x1200, High to Very High settings and 2xAA I average at least 40+FPS, much higher on the earlier levels. It goes to the lower 20's on the level after you leave the ice place though.... looks so god damn nice!

BUT randomly through the whole game, certain areas will make your FPS drop by over half! Extremely annoying!

i told nvidia tech support about that problem a while ago

it seems that crysis fills v-mem without deleting the data after
the only solution i found is alt+tab (and nvidia confirmed) cause switching to 2dmode empties v-mem and when you get back ingame just the usefull datas are loaded in vmem

lol
and they say crysis is very well optimized

Okay people. after uninstall and a reinstall with latest patch and a defragmentation..it runs good again..i mean..25fps normal..@ that iced ship it is 19fps...this is what i expected..DX10...realy looks impressive..once i tried Xp DX10 tweak for crysis..but this is not what it was showing..this is realy impressive..in some fight in jungleFPS drops to 15 but..i cant CUT down visuals..damn..game looks realy impressive. i played it and finished it when it was out with DX9 but this time DX10 adds a reply..this is just my oppinion. and i was thinking my 8800GT is ok but today again as a computer nerd iam thinking a new GPU..lol i musnt do that... see u people

PS: i need a favor from 1 of u pls... u know, game is in my language too, Turkish..speech and menu..speech is ok but MENU? i didnt like it. i mean in options i need to see english technical options.. technical menu/i mean system options looks weird..i cant figure out which option is which...all is just very high. (sorry forget to tell, i set shadows to medium)..

Anyway, i need ur english files which r:

*:\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Localized

iam not sure which is needed for MENU only..can u tell me pls? i dont want to change voices.

Thanx.

After Vista i turned back again to my Xp..AGAın..this was second time for me using Vista and turning back to Xp. SP1 for Vista did alot..and nvidia drivers r improved too.

The reason my post now is about XP and CRYSIS. i was not playing it since i finished game when it was out.

After a format and reinstaling Xp and CRYSIS to a fresh defragmented partition of my hdd, i started crysis. as i see maybe with SP3 or latest official nvidia drivers and patches of CRYSIS, i have incredible performance boost.

First level loding time was 59 sec. on Vista with no AA & AF. 1400*900. everything was very high

now on Xp. no AA & AF, everything is high and same 1400*900. and loading time is 34 sec for the first level...

Anwyay. maybe a defragmented HDD and a fresh xp. But what about in game FPS..it is around 28-44...it vista high settings(not very high) i never got that FPS in same areas...Anyway the issue here previous CRYSIS and today CRYSIS with patches and latest drivers..it is realy superb perforance i see. But damn DX10 was good.
