In the U.S. (at this point) that Sunbeam cooler is incredibly hard to find. Pity Zerotherms, Xigmateks, and Thermalrights weren't thrown in there.

The noctua was definatley worth it then, love mine but it is pricey. The z600 is epic but to big, would've been good to see the TRUE but in europe these are very easy to get over the thermalrights.

nice review hilbert, will you do more cooler reviews in the future? id like to see things like the thermalright true and zerotherm nirvana in there.
i've got 2 remarks though:
1. the mirror finish on a base is mostly for looks, as long as its properly flat, having no scratches or so is equal in performance to a mirror shine iirc. so not having one isnt really the drawback it sounds like when you are talking about the coolink.
2. while i fully agree with you saying that backplates are a hassle and completely not practical, i wouldnt trust a couple of plastic pins to hold these heavy beasts, so i prefer a backplate to simple pushpins.
thats not to say that there shouldn't be a better solution though.

ok so this review is saying that the Tuniq Core Contact Freezer will cool a quad core @ 35'c
so will this be better than my tuniq tower120 at cooling my q9450
also couldnt you update the review with a old cooler like tuniq tower 120 so we can see how they compare

Nice review, what's the thing with the intel pushpins though? I cant imagine those buggers can hold such a large cooler (my stock intel cooler even became loose after transporting my PC :S. There's a nice Zalman cooler with backplate on there now though )

I can't believe how huge those coolers are... LOL
My Thermaltake V1 looks almost small compared to those bricks.

does the Noctua NH-U12P fit on LGA 1366 platforms? and will it fit on a Antec Three Hundred? I saw a TRUE on an Antec Three Hundred, I just want to confirm if it will fit. .thanks. .

I don't think so. NH-U12P SE1366 is same cooler for LGA1366.
Not sure about case, if you have that case, open it and use measuring tape.
NH-U12P SE1366 Height (with or without fan): 158 mm
EDIT: Thermalright TRUE Black 120 Height: 160.5 mm
So it will fit

It's just a shame that they didn't use Intel Cooler+TRUE as baseline for bottom and top, considering Intel's fan was always the crappiest one and TRUE usually beat everything.
Easier to compare...

Why wasn't the Xigmatek S1283/1284 thrown in there??? It's one of the best coolers available, and doesn't cost a fortune. Supposedly, its thermal performance is only matched by the TRUE.

I spent ages looking for a Vendetta 2 in Serbia to no avail so I had to make do with a Vendetta 1. Didn't regret it though. Cost me sub 20EUR and is very close to its bigger cousin.

Am I reading it wrong, or does this review have a q6600 overclocked to 3.6 at 62C on a stock heatsink at 100% load?

Those coolers are very nice indeed. Though I would love to see how well the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme compete against these. That way we can see if it is worth an upgrade. I have a q6600 OC @ 3.6GHz and I would love to know if there was a cooler that could cool it better than my TRUE.

According to most benchmarks the Noctua generally cools better. But it could be because of what fans they use on the TRUE. Either way, both coolers are basically the exact same.
