Default Point of View GeForce 9600 GSO 386 MB review - 05-13-2008, 00:30 | posts: 2,447 | User is Offline

Point of View GeForce 9600 GSO 386 MB reviewNVIDIA replaced the GeForce 8800 GS with the GeForce 9600 GSO. The 9600 GSO is still based on the same G92 core with 96 stream processors that the 8800...

Great review, but I have noticed that the performance graph for after you overclock it just never loads. I have refreshed the page a few times, and it just doesn't come up.

Have had no problem with any of the others. Is this an issue on my end or yours?

Great card as well. I thought the interface would cripple it, but it is almost on par with a GT. Amazing.

Yup, noticed a tiny setting that is an issue for users with firefox. I altered it and the page will update over the next 20 minutes.

Nice one Hilbert.

You da man!

EDIT: Nice results! You mention about a 10% increase in performance, but the figures are much closer to a 20% increase. They are 10% more than the stock GT, but they are 20% more than the GSO.

Great review! - Though why has the 8600GTS & 8800GT both got the same colours in the Crysis test graph. There are lots of available colours!

This has probably been discussed before - apologies if it has

If it's $100 that's finally a low-mid range card that's worth buying. It's good to see the retarded prices on video cards are finally going down a bit.

reminds me of the old 8800gts 320/640 with the 96 streams but on the g92 core , would it not perform better than the 9600gt if it had better bandwith ?

hmm....well having the 8800GS version of this card i can say the benchmarks seem to degrade its performance. the frame rates for COD4, FEAR, and Stalker seem especially low at 1280X1024. not that they aren't good, but i play these games maxed at 1440X900 and the frame rates using fraps (not scientific, i know) are often well above what was listed. although the map used for COD4 in the testing was demanding, as pointed out.

anyway this is a good card and a great overclocker. worth what they're askin' for it, thats for sure

Nice review. One thing you might want to stick your nose in:

The core is a G92. You should check with rivatuner if any pipes can be unlocked. It seems that some manufacturers are dropping in 8800GTS cores with 128 pipes and BIOS lock some pipes.

To even make things more interesting. Some manufacturers are leaving in 8 mem-chips, when unlocking you might also go to 512MB and 256-bit... (hint: look at the galaxy 9600gso OC card)

Please plix plox with sugar on top can you check this out on your sample card
