So i have £50 to get myself a new graphics card. I am thinking of getting one of these since the shop is local and has always helped me in need.

    NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT 512MB (RAM 400MHz/GPU 380MHz)
    http://www.ucsuk.com/product/Value-nVidia-GeForce-7300GT-512Mb-DDR-DVITV-Out-A_2260.html

    ATI Radeon X1650PRO 512MB (GPU 600 MHz/RAM 800 MHz)
    http://www.ucsuk.com/product/Club-3...12MB-DDR2-Dual-DVITV-Out-AGP,-Retail_378.html

Yes i know the x1650 is way more powerful but i think my pc power supply is too old. Of course i cant verify this as i have searched for the specs of my pc and I cant find anything. Plus i dont have the money to get a new power supply sometime soon (within the year).

    So the bare questions are.

    - Can anyone find and info on my pc power supply? (My pc model is - Medion mt pc5)

    - Would the Radeon x1650 Pro run ok on a 300watts power supply? (Since this Wattage seems to be the commonest found in manufacturer pcs.)

    - Which card is way better?

On this pc i currently have running. (Stuff without its own power supply)

    Intel pentium 4 2.8ghz processor (socket 478, 533MHZ.)

    1x 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHZ (Locked at 266mhz by my motherboard.)

1x 256MB DDR PC2100 266MHZ (This is what is limiting my other memory and thus allows it to work.)

    256MB ATI Radeon 9550 AGP 8x.

1x DVD Reader (Thinking of removing it to get a spare molex if the X1650PRO will work on my pc.)

1x DVD RW (With a front dvd/cd indicator.)

    1x PCI 2 port USB 2 Adaptor

1x PCI Creative labs sound blaster! Live 5.1 Card

    1x Floppy drive

    1x Turbowin keyboard

1x Microsoft wheel mouse optical 1.1a USB

    - your power supply will take of them fine
    - go for the X1650pro
    - knock yourself out

So would i need to use the molex if i get the 1650pro? i mean i am on agp 4x + i would need to remove my DVD-Reader drive so i could have a molex to use.

Yes you need to plug a molex into the card...the AGP slot can only supply one amp of 12v current and the card needs about 4 amps. You should be able to get away with a molex add-on cable though....use the adapter to power something else that is and use a native molex on the card.

So where do i get one of these molex add-on cables? Are they included with the video card?

  9. u want to throw that 256m stick in the bin m8.
if u want I will send u 2x 256m pc3200 sticks, u can have them for nothing as u seem a worthy cause, I can send u a molex lead too if u want, 3 into 1 ok?

    Already have 4 working, 2 desktops and 2 lappy's.
and I keep getting stuff offered to me.
21" crt in mint condition is about the only thing worth keeping for myself

After looking at a pic of your board I see u only have 2 slots for ram, oh well feel free to pass the spare stick on to some1 else.. I would use the twinmos out of the two I sent...

X700 how much is it and what interface?

  18. Agp, willing to take a bid on it.. no box but I have all the cables and maybe the outer part of the box... (if I remember I used the cardboard part of the box to post an x850 out some time ago)

the card is powercolour I believe

judging by ebays results, about £10 and say £2 for post....

    -Not so good-
In reguards to your pc bits:
    Expansion Slots - 1 x AGP 4X slot.

    Memory
    1. 2 x 184-Pin DIMM slot
    2. Supports up to 2GB DDR266 memory

not good, any agp card will run 4x and any ram over pc2100 will run @ 266 anyway.

  19. all is not lost tho.
    How about a Asus P5P800 with a P4 3.0ghz 531 as a nicely priced bundle.
    http://www.ciao.co.uk/ASUS_P5P800__5784566
If so u could use all 3 sticks of the memory to give 1.5ghz @ 400, and be able to use the 8x for a better card like the x1650 you were talking about.
    £20 + £3 postage?

Or I will do the board, cpu and the x700 for £30 posted.

There is a 600watt psu in the case with these bits, but they are heavey for posting really...
