Default HD questions DVI/HDMI/HDCP/LCD Monitors - 03-24-2008, 20:06 | posts: 212 | Location: UK

Hello, newb on the HD bits & bobs

I've got a Dell 2007WFP monitor with the single HDCP DVI port which is connected to my computer.

Im on the verge to buy a PS3 with HDMI to DVI cable and want to use 2007WFP until i get a a more permanent solution but tbh im too lazy to change them everytime

If i got a DVI switch, does that need to be HDCP too? im guessing the switch does nothing apart from pass the signal from A/B to the output, so it not being HDCP matter? Im thinking its the end points ie the gfix card and monitor [never seen a HDCP DVI cable]

Or i guess i could get a HDMI switch, and have DVI to HDMI from PC and HDMI to DVI to monitor?

Would either of those work, or any other ways? cheap as possible would be nice

1 last question, anyone here using a Dell 2408WFP or 3008WFP or similar as HDTV/PS3/XBox 360? if do they work well, etc?

Thanks for any help

This is same problem I had, but my was with a Panasonic LCD which only had 1 HDMI port.

I used a HDMI switch, to connect PS3 via HDMI and then just used a HDMI-DVI cable to connect to PC card to the switch.

This allows you connect up to like 5 HD sources, so that should solve my problem forever. I won't be getting more than 5 sources.
