Default Vostro 1400 - any drawbacks? - 03-23-2008, 23:07 | posts: 238

Hello,
I'm looking for a new laptop and would like something a litte smaller than the typical 15 incher and something that wont get too hot in particular
im looking at the dell vostro 1400 and dell xps1330 and the vostro is like half price with the same specs (460 GBP vs. 850 GBP) - i dont care about 13 inch vs. 14 inch

can someone plz tell me what the drawbacks are for the vostro systems??
thank you

the only drawback i heard of is, its pretty heavy and and the screen brightness is not upto par

but honestly, i think the vostro has the best design for any laptop, go for the vostro and try and customize the screen for truelife

Thanks Inuk
im giong with the vostro - i can't bear to pay 200 pounds more for 0.8 inches of screen less and 0.5 kg less weight

aside from "being ugly" i've concluded there are no drawbacks, plus i kinda like the old skool thinkpad look

thanks again

Where can you get one for that price? I looked on dell, for one of a similar spec, but that was about £550-£600.

I think that 1x1024 + 1x2048 means the memory won't run in dual-channel. Meaning you get half the bandwidth.

I wish we would start getting some vostros in so i can play with them.

Im very happy with the Thinkpad R61is which are even kinda old using a pentium dual core.

They run vista well though.
