Not sure but i don't think Disk Defragmenter lists some of the system files it can't defrag, there are a few (paging files, event log files, and Registry hives). Try PageDefrag. See if Disk Defragmenter still reports any files after you have used PageDefrag on the system files. PageDefrag will reboot and do the defrag "off-line" before the system boots. PerfectDisk is one commercial defragger which also deals with system files, and other stuff like the MFT.

Edit: Oh and im not sure about hidden files and folders. Like if you don't have show hidden files and folders on will it show them in the report ? Not sure.

Could you repost and move those windows out of the way so I can see....

I find Vista's defrag so slow...I think it always defrags the whole physical drive even if it's partitions (that's the only explanationI can come up with for defragging a 25ish gig OS install!)

Therefore I use Auslogics defrag, not the best but free ; )

I had this issue but I just ignored it. I installed Diskeeper and try to defrag. I think it needed a boot-time defrag.

My suggestion - don't worry about it. Way back when I still used the default Windows defragmenter, I used to get that message too, all the time as a matter of fact. Then, one day, it mysteriously disappeared. But it didn't take long before it reappeared again. I suggest just replacing the default defragmenter with, say, Diskeeper 7 Lite. That one gets the job done and doesn't annoy you with those kinds of messages. Never leaves anything fragmented, and it's faster too.
